American 15 month online poker blackout

Ive just been reading about this elsewhere.  I dont know the accuracy or ins and outs, but its something to do with some legislation being passed, that in some ppls eyes is good for the longterm.
Considering online poker is supposed to be banned in the US anyway and clearly there are zillions of Americans playing anyway, will this really affect them.
If it does affect them, what effect will this have on uk players on different sites, and what are the longterm benefits for the american poker economy?

As most if not all the euro sites don't allow US player it wont effect the traffic. But for the big US sites traffic will be hugely reduced and the games softer. I wonder if FT or PS will start to reduce or offer great deals to try and gain more players to make up for the lost ones.

haven't read about the new legislation, but any change in the US poker economy will be felt worldwide.  poker players love to money around from site to site and any change that affects US sites liquidity will be felt elsewhere.
