Sounds very interesting Tikay. For live action would Sky also go down the route of the format of the Poker Millions final table?

Potentially, yes, though we'd deffo not copy it, as such. We have some interesting ideas to improve upon that, & there are no plans to copy anyone else's ideas.

Cash, SNG, big Tourney Finals, all are being developed, but I think the idea is to start with a Cash Game, for all sorts of reasons.

Once we get up to speed - & "if", fingers crossed - we could turn out a great deal of stuff in fact.

Hard to know how all that will fit into 3 nights a week, eh?

What stakes will it be? - roughly? no lower than 2/5? -  5/10?

Not firmly decided yet, but you are in precisely the right area. We neeed to play around wih a few things before deciding. Balance, ensuring we can facilitate the presence of a "low-limit" players, make it all a bit tricky to tick all the boxes.

    Nooooooooooo!

Sky Atlantic HD is the Home of HBO, don't you know......

By coincidence, I was at the Sky Atlantic HD Launch Party last Fridy evening, representing Sky Poker, in a special poker "speak-easy", dressed in 1930's gear & all sorts.....might even be some Blog material there. ;)

Live cash would be really boring to watch, definately agree with you TK, all about editing it, but I really hope you get stuff like the bet size, pot size, blinds etc shown, i hate when you can't see that on most shows.

Yes watching Live would be a bit boring, but equally I don't like it when only "Action" hands get shown. I personally prefer to see EVERY hand, just need to speed up the shuffle time etc. Beginners watch the poker shows and don't realise that there is not a big on big situaltion every hand. It's better to see how players react every hand to their position and who the BB is. It will show them the basics like button raising and Cbetting the flop and how effective it can be.

Interesting article in the Racing Post underneath a picture of Ed Giddins seemingly trapped in a triffid garden.  Quoting from the piece written by Jim Cremin: 'Live Sky Poker on the satellite channel celebrated its fourth birthday last week, and significantly signed a deal for a new live cash game on Friday nights that will initially be confined to invited players.' Have they got this right?

As Tikay has mentioned the rumours are true. I am hoping to start filming by the end of March and get the first of 12 shows on air by mid to late April. This all depends on delivery of the table, studio sets and training on the new software.
Once I have more information I will update on here, but if you have any questions let me know
    Thanks

    Hi Claire

Will this new venture have any detrimental effect on the Sky Poker 'spend' on other projects/interests that they currently do??
(things like the SPT's, Vegas promotions etc etc)

Ooh, spiffy! Loving all the guests of late they've really added a lot, so getting to see some of them playing will be even better.

So is the table transportable? Any chance of it showing up as an SPT featured/final table, presuming you can move it, come to arrangements with the casino, etc?

The Table itself is movable, Danny, but it's just a regular Table. The fancy-dan bit is all the software that comes with it, which is ceiling-mounted, together with especially located & mounted cameras which can "read" the cards, & all the consoles to "run it", which need to go into a Gallery.

So in short, no, it won't be leaving the Studio.

It does not need "hole-card" cameras, or "torch" or "key-hole" cameras, it does not work like that. The special cards used have a micro-chip in them, sort of like a bar-code, & the software can thus ""see" the cards, & then that gets relayed onto the screen instantly via cool graphics.

Fancy! I haven't heard of such a thing, do the cards have RFID chips embedded?

Sounds great anyway, look forward to seeing it in action.

The cards have to be micro chipped so info can be feed to the dealer to what turn and river card to deal to make interesting TV! :)))

    Exactly that.

A "real" (human!) Dealer is used, as they are "standard cards" (with added technology built-in), not "virtual" cards. She or he has to shuffle them just as they would in a real live B & M poker game.
