Chat policy

Hi all,

I recently found out I had my chat removed for being abusive at the tables. Yes, from time to time I tend to lose the head when I lose a big pot. Abusing other players is rightfully unacceptable for most sites and warrents a chat ban.

However, I have some problems with the way sky poker has gone about this. I received no notification that my chat was banned, I had to go into live chat to find out. This took about 30 minutes to find out.
I received no warning, indicating that my chat would be banned for abusive behaviour. This seems very unfair. I play on a lot of sites and on some sites  banter and reaction is accepted as part of the game. All other sites will at least give a player a warning, we are after all the "customers".

I spoke to a live chat support guy, I told him I received no warning and if I had of, I would have realised the site takes this seriously and I would have cut out the bad chat. I asked him to reinstate my chat and told him if he did I would happily accept a ban if I abused the chat again. He refused and told me my chat would be banned for one month, he was even a little snotty, telling me "sky poker are not other sites", when I told him I was familiar with other sites policies.

I have contributed a lot of rake since joining the site and find it a little insulting to be dealt with in this way. CS reps have to understand the nature of poker and that players can lose the head sometimes. They should understand that policies differ on other sites. A warning should at least be given, as players may be used to other policies. On top of all this I have been repeatidly frustrated with the skypoker software. The tables keep freezing on me, which was increasing my frustration on the tables. I have created a thread about this.

Anyway, if this is the way players are treated I will take my business elsewhere.

to be quite honest, i have never had my chat banned, even though i have probably like you, lost my head at certain times, this must mean that you were more than rude, and quite frankly i would expect this to be more of an apology...

whether you are Tom Dwann or Joe Public makes no difference, this is a FUN site where the main objective is for normal people to enjoy a game...and i would expect everyone to be treated the same regardless of amount of rake, family connections or any other reason...

If you have a temper, then i suggest anger management classes, and if you are a customer, then you should act like one,and not a spoilt kid...

    peace

I blame Luke Schwartz. How he gets away with his antics i don't know. The tournament directors should set an example and kick him out.People watch him and think they can say and do anything and get away with it.Take you beats and wins like a man or live with the consequences.

If you where to lose the head while playing poker in a Casino or Poker Club, you would be aggresively shown the door and told not to come back. So why is it okay to verbally abuse other poker players online. You should have a word with yourself. Sky Poker are right in my view to ban you without notice. Did you give the persons notice that you where about to verbally abuse them.

Good Poker Players shouldnt and wouldnt go mental if they lost a big hand or got knocked out by a fish or by the dreadful river. When you LOSE, you should take it like a Man / Woman and then put it behind you and move on.

Going mental when you lose achieves nothing and if you cant control yourself then maybe you should step back and take a break from Poker.

Sorry but no-one deserves to be verbally abused on this site.

    Regards

ek i think u put a really good point. I used to lose my head at bad beats or big pots, there would usually be a message from me in the chat box something along the lines of "donk" or "idiot" and that was that. Sometimes they replied and it got heated.

I like to think i've improved as a person and now instead of idiot or donk i put "nh" or "wp" something which has also helped me take the beats because i know ive been nice about it.

I understand everyone can get rattled from time to time, but everyone has their own way that they can improve on it, and improving on it will help.

If you are familiar with policies on other sites then you will know that chat abuse leads to a chat ban. Fair play to Sky for clamping down on this sort of thing. What a stupid attention seeking post to make.
