No just turn up in the hour beforehand. Capacity shouldn't be a problem

Why was this satellites structure not as advertised? If I had known that the rebuy  period was going to be two 45 min levels, followed by 20 min levels, I certainly wouldn't have driven 70 miles each way to participate. This format does nothing to serve the Sky community which Sky does so well normally and I think that it would be better if the seats were chucked in with the rest as online qualification. I don't normally play rebuys as they encourage people to gamble instead of play poker but I was prepared to deal with that because i missed the online qualification. But when the rebuy period is that long, just so that the cost of the seats get covered(only 12 runners), then the levels get dropped to 20 minutes for a shove fest, I'd rather use the money next time to buy in directly to a couple of semi finals rather than waste my time with a poorly set up structure that has nothing to do with poker and everything about making sure the cost of the seat is covered.
If the satellite has to be run live, at least do it the night before the main event, when the Sky players who haven't qualified but have travelled down for the Craic, are likely to give it a go and therefore allow a decent structure to be run.
I know it's my own fault for not qualifying when the online sats were running but when your only chance left to qualify is to try to survive a 90 minute turkey shoot, it's not an option I think many would like.
yours gutted to be missing Luton SPT,

    Hi there

When each venue is booked, 5 seats are "given" to the venue to run a live satellite for them to offer to their local players, primarily but which I then post up on here for Sky Poker players who live local enough to play if they hadn't qualified online

When that satellite is, what format it is etc is entirely up to the venue. Sky Poker has no say on that. That said I am a little disappointed to see that the structure was different to that which was advised to me previously, and I would have hoped I had been told.

As it happens, 2 rebuy levels then a 20 minute clock is entirely standard for a live satellite and it did the job as it "made" five seats with cash on top

the venue has no obligation at all to serve the "Sky Poker community" with this live sat, it's first priority is going to be serving its players, most of whom will be used to these formats

Running an event the night before the actual SPT would make no difference as to satellite tourney structure. It still has to be structured to be completed quickish. Indeed such a date is likely to be unsuitable as Friday nights are generally very busy for live poker rooms (more so than Sunday nights) with regular tournaments

I hope you qualify for Leeds, Cardiff or DTD later in the year

    Tx for the swift reply.
I know 2 rebuy periods is standard, in which case 40 minutes(or even an hour) of rebuy I could've stomached but when it's twice that it's too much. When the structure was bought up, the comment from the staff was' it's Sky's tournament, not ours'. Also forgot to mention there was a double add on. Perhaps if this the standard structure, then  it needs to be advertised as such.
I take on your points about the venue being offered the seats(I thought this would be the case) but it would seem at the time, the staff there had no real interest in it and considered it an annoyance to the normal Sunday operations.
I gutted to have missed Luton this year as it's the nearest to me and I really enjoyed it last year so was pleased to see a last chance to qualify. This pleasure disappeared when the structure became apparent.  Hopefully, next time the structure can be clearly advertised so people are fully aware what they are buying into.
Hopefully next time, I'll get off my backside and qualify online.
    regards,
    Mohican

It's disappointing to hear some of the comments about the staff. Yesterday they suspended normal comps and ran two satellites, one of which was for the SPT, so these events were their only focus, and you shouldn't have felt otherwise. I will send the thread to the card-room manager for his thoughts

As to structure, I will certainly do a double check next time. I'm not sure why it was different to that advised to me

Typically at any SPT 5-10 alternates get in to the tournament as early knock outs occur. If you arrive for midday Saturday and see me (ask any member of card-room staff for Richard Prew) then you SHOULD have a good chance of playing. Sadly no guarantees, but if by some chance there are no exits there are still many presenter SNGs, small cash games etc to make it a full day for any player who spends the day with us.

Their main focus was the D4 satellite which was dealer dealt and a big tourney. Our sat had 12 players and was self dealt. You can see why it wasn't top of their list. Just to clarify, the staff were polite and helpful(as they always are when I go there) but comments about it being 'Skys tournament' does leave you wondering just how much Gcasino values being able to offer these sats. My real grumble, however, is the structure and advertising of this sat and I hope this will be sorted for the next leg.
Thanks for the quick reply to my grumbles and hopefully i'll save myself the hassle by qualifing online next time.
    regards,

The satellite @ Luton was their standard structure for satellites below £30/50 buy in.

As for self deal    .....    again, you ain't gonna get a dealer for a twenty quid re-buy (although as you failed to mention, they did provide a house dealer for the Final Table) - what on earth were you expecting for £2 juice    ....    Thomas Kremser and the EPT dealing team?

As for the '****-shoot' etc comments - what do you expect in a satellite - 10k deepstack, and an hour clock?

Maybe online satellites with a ten minute blind structure and 2k in chips are much better - in your opinion - than 3k (with a 6k double addon) starting stack and 40 then 20 minute blinds, live!

Think about your comments - I think you are being over critical of the venue    .....      and wanted to be treated like Royalty for putting £2 in their tills.

Anyhow, it worked for me        ............         seat binked (Tikay shall be my Man Fiday for the day)!

What I was expecting was 30 minute levels, two of them rebuy as advertised and self dealt. I was prepared to play this format to qualify. That's not what it was and if it had been advertised as 90 minutes of rebuy then 20 minute levels I wouldn't have bothered because they are just shove fests and I don't play them.
Read my posts  as I never said I expected a dealt tourney, turkey shoot comments refer to the long rebuy period and short levels afterwards, not the 30 minute levels I was expecting. The stacks were 2000 with a 4000 double add on, not 3000 with 6000 add on. It might be their standard structure at Luton but, again I reiterate,it wasn't what I was expecting and certainly not something I would have played had I known.
My only complaint about the venue is the 'it's Sky's tournament, not ours' comment which does leave me wondering how much the venue actually wants this satellite..The staff are polite and helpful and the venue is a good one which I've played several times since the SPT Luton last year.
    Good luck at the SPT.
