Yeah money is deffo going in here, Gerrard is fairly passive on the SB so he will have a decent hand. As others have said, just shove, no point in 3betting more than half your stack.

What about Flat calling and seeing the flop?

Not at this stage of an MTT. You have the 4th best hand in holdem. You want the chips in ASAP.

against gerrard tho he is very passive OTB and really best we can hope for is 99/TT that we are ahead of and racing with AK/AQ.

I wouldn't mind flatting against Gerrard and getting it on a safe flop.

Having said that its never a mistake in getting in 20bb in a BvB situation so I wouldn't worry about it too much, just a cooler

I agree you should of shoved pre, however if your just trying to ladder then you'll fold nearly everything until you get to the position/cash you want to get to. If you want to win you want chips then you push pre flop with this hand.

As solid as people say Gerrard is, he will be raising a LOT of hands that JJ is ahead of.

He will be raising all pairs when folded round to him in the SB I'd imagine? And a lot of aces.

Ship it in and feel reasonably happy.

Cooler is the only word for this spot imo.
