Why was my thread about the takeover of Sky Pokers parent company removed.

What rule did it break.

I was simply asking about possible new avenues for Sky Poker.  How does that not fit in with general poker chat.

Why was I not emailed/PM'd with regards to this (the one time I've had a thread removed before, someone from Sky has told me why).

Was this removed by a Sky employee or one of the new volunteer mods.

Thank you.

from Sky Daves rules and guidelines thread at the top

    * Pornographic, vulgar or obviously offensive material.
    DID NOT BREAK THAT
    * Defamatory, hateful, potentially libellous posts or those that seek to promote illegal activity.  OR THAT
    * Posts which seek to discriminate on the grounds of sex, race, ethnicity or religion. OR THAT
    * Unsolicited spam, including using the Sky Poker PM service for commercial spamming purposes. OR THAT

    Flaming OR THAT
    Trolling  OR THAT
    Links  OR THAT

Which board to post on?  As I stated above, this was a simple discussion about new opportunities for Sky Poker, so general poker chat is fine IMO

Duplicate Accounts I did not break this

Good question - maybe a conflict of consistency in the interpretation of the rules?

Would like to have read what you wrote Scotty - interesting bit of news imo

It was a three line opening post, with about 4 replies, on how the parent companies new ownership would affect the Sky Poker with regards to international expansion.

Also deleted was my happy St. David's Day thread that was moved to the shed and then deleted...can't see how a happy St. David's Day thread would possibly need to be deleted...I'm not on line tonight but would love some clarification if possible..

The thread title was Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Sant

Surely deleting this post contravenes this rule -

    * Posts which seek to discriminate on the grounds of sex, race, ethnicity or religion.

Obviously posting something Welsh is asking for it. ;-)

Hopefully someone will be along to answer these questions seriously at some point though.

    Wouldn't hold your breath

By the way Spornybol has left the Site for the very same reason posts deleted for no apparent reason and no communication as to why

    Hi Guys,

Like Machka I can't answer but I will find out for you.  I did see the thread, In fact I even posted on it.

TY mods Machka and Jock for your responses so far - would be great if you guys could find out what is going on. The examples of threads being deleted atm does seem wrong.
IMO it doesn't matter who deleted them (as in no need to name and shame etc) but it does matter that there is obviously confusion to what threads need deleting seeing that Jock had read and posted on Scotty's thread and seen nothing wrong with it but another mod found the need to delete it!!

Hi guys,  I don't know about Scottys thread as I didn't see that one, but I think its possible that the other thread may have been deleted as t wasn't in English.

I found this in the table chat rules, and it may also apply to the forum.

If this is the case Mod_Kiwi, then I think common sense should be used. Trip5 should have been contacted and been given the opportunity to make it bilingual at least. With a Welsh thread title on a Welsh National Day I reckon that is pretty harmless tbh, I can fully understand why in chat english must always be spoken and 100% agree but there is no specific rule to say no Welsh allowed in the forum - I my self have posted in Welsh on the forum in the past and the posts never got deleted - they were done in jest and in the past I think mods have taken it in the correct spirit.

Spornybol received at least two PMs following his complaint on the forum - one of which was from me.

    Hi guys,

I am not too sure why the thread would have been moved. I didn't see it myself but can't imagine there was anything too bad on there. I reserve the right to change that opinion when I find it though ;)

Apologies for the inconvenience and thanks for bringing it to our attention. I'll ask a few questions and see if I can shed some light on it in the morning for you.

Trip5 - I think the thread was correctly put in The Shed as it was perfectly legit but 'non-poker', so the Shed is the home for that. Again, don't see any reason why it would have been deleted. I'll look around for you.

Scouse - I'm afraid that's wrong. Spornybol has been messaged on a couple of occasions about sticking to the forum guidelines. Ask him to send me a PM if he thinks there's been any kind of confusion and I'll discuss it with him directly.

    Thanks all.

Very good and well thought answers Sky_Dave.
I never saw Scotty's thread but as you said - I can't imagine it would have been bad at all.
A fair point about Trip5 post being moved to the Shed so no problems there.

However if they have indeed been deleted by a mod then obviously there is a lack of understanding somewhere - I don't know how all this mod thing works - as in, can any of the mods delete any thread they deem unfit without any consultation? However you work it, I hope all the mods consider their actions and consult with each other more maybe in future just in case a more serious thread is deleted in the future which could lead to more anger that we have seen in the past.

Gl to all mods - you have a thankless task but it is a great concept imo if done correctly.

    Cheers Dylan.

Moderating this forum is a bit trickier than some as we don't have access to a Mod Only board as many - if not all - forums normally have. That means we tend to use IM or email to communicate.

As for the consistency, we all know it's something we have to work on, hence in part the guidelines. We'll do our best to work on this and I hope you and the rest of the Community can bear with us and continue your support.

Appreciate your post, have a good evening.

    Dave
