This is the type of hand where I have stacked off in the past. Did I play it badly? Opponent had been playing well for some time but recently halved his stack in a couple of hands.

    Limp/calling utg suggests he's not v good.

I think he had 89 of spades.

You're definitely beat on the river, and it's a good, bt pretty easy fold.

    Raise bigger on the flop.

Try to get it in on turn.

I'd have called at 2 a.m. after a night on the ale, but know he's slap bang in T9s, 89s, 78s territory here and folding is the right move. You get some players who love to limp UTG with aces, but the fact he didn't re-raise your flop raise probably rules that out. The only hands he's semi-bluffing with and you're beating are AT and JJ.

Thanks guys. Nice to get a response from respected players. I also thought his limp/call preflop was a good sign of suited connectors likely to easily hit that flop. I thought my error was not reraising enough on the flop but suspect  I may have been behind even there, in which case I should not have called his turn bet.

I'd raise the flop more, other than that played fine imo unless you have reads he stacks off reasonably light.
