£2.20 deepstack. Haven't played villain before, but regularly seen him in these tourneys.

Should I have played this differently pre or on the flop?

    Did he have KQ of diamonds? ;)

    Prob just check/call flop.

    How often has he been opening? You could just shove pre. Awkward stack size though.

    Once you've raised the flop, maybe you should just shove the turn.

    Awkward spot but c/r'ing flop isn't good.

    For the following reasons:

    1) You are bloating the pot out of position with a marginal and no real idea where you are

    2) If he is ahead, he is very unlikely to fold and you've just wasted a lot of chips "finding out where you are."

    3) If he is bluffing you fold him out and your 9's lose value

    4) If he has overs, and gets there then it's a bit annoying but you win long run for all the times he fires and doesn't get there. He is probably only about 20% with 2 overs in this spot.

    It's really awkward though.

    The way i would play is re-raise pre to 2500, probably fold if they shove but that way i think they either fold or shove. If they do shove it depends on what sort of range you think they would do this? AK/AQ would obv call but if ur gut is telling you they have a monster not a bad fold and you still have enough chips not to worry

    As played im happy to flat flop but give up on turn as it hits alot of there range

    I'm shoving this pre against most players. If reads mean you're not happy stacking off pre then I'd probably just c/f the flop tbh.

    I think raise/folding pre or c/ring the flop are the worst possible options.

    I didn't think it was the worst flop for 99 with only one overcard, and thought the villains 900 bet into a 2100 pot looked like a weak C-bet, which is why I took a shot at it.

    As played pre, would betting out on the flop have been terrible?


    Genuine question regarding shoving. Is shoving 99 with 26BB a sensible stategy?
