say you select 4 horses: a,b,c & d. A flag bet consists of 23 bets: 1 fourfold (abcd all to win) 4 trebles (abc, acd, bcd & abd) 6 doubles (ab, bc, cd, ad, ac & bd) then comes the tricky bit...you have 6 SSA bets which concern the mentioned 6 doubles. eg say your bet is for £1 unit stake ie total stake £23. the ab SSA means that £1 goes on a with any returns going on b, and vice versa hence each SSA bet (there are 6) costs u £2. hope this helps.
