The racing between the cheltenham festival and Aintree festival is always complete dross..Wait till next thursday thats when the class racing starts again.
Is Aintree another big jumps meeting then? Maybe our father could squeeze in another couple of nap days Give us a chance to catch the big boys. I thought it was flat racing now? It's the big race here at Donny on Saturday......??? Posted by DOHHHHHHH
Aintree meeting is the National meeting. Usually the Friday and Saturday, but the Thursday also added on a couple of years ago and now it is a 3 day meeting. It's the last of the big Jumps meetings and the pinnacle is the National on the Saturday.
Flat racing starts today on the turf and the first big race is the Lincoln on Saturday

Don't mean to be pedantic, but the Grand National meeting was 3 days since before the war!!
The National used to be run on the Friday of the 3 day meeting, until run on a Saturday for the first time
in 1947. (was tried again on a Friday in '57 to try and halt dwindling attendances, but this did not work, and reverted back to Saturday in '58)
In 1949 the National meeting was extended to 4 days, and reduced back to 3 days in 1953.
Here endeth today's Grand national history lesson, hope you found it of interest!! :-)
