I don't like this bluff. it's a pretty good call but I think your flop raise gave it away. If you have two diamonds then with which two diamonds could you be betting the flop? The normal play with diamonds here would surely be to call the half-pot bet. A 7 or 8 is more likely. He has any 8 beat at this point so he has called to see what you do next smelling a c-bet I think.

If you had a 7 then you would have made a larger bet on the turn after getting some action on the flop. Then the flush comes and you change your story to repping the flush. It's a hero call but I think this is why he made it.

I know I'm looing at both sets of cards but to me your line seames fishy to me. You seem to change after the flop. Maybe a really good player has picked up on this. Maybe some donk has just played it like a calling station

    thanks for the reply!

well after still sitting at the table, i can confirm he is nothing more than a calling station. he got his stack up good with some donk pre calls and hit good. k5, j6....
managed stack him with 1010 with his pair of 8s lol...

    all is well.

Why would you call there with two diamonds? That's a terrible line to take IMO- if I'm sat there with AK diamonds, giving me two overs and NFD, I'd be looking to raise too- if it's checked to me, I'd be betting too.

On the turn (continuing with our AK story) we now have top pair to add to our flush draw. It's now checked to us, suggesting our opponent doesn't have much. Definitely worth another strong bet.

Now on the river our flush is completed, and it's checked to us again. Why would someone be betting the river without a flush or a seven? If they have complete air is one option, so I can perhaps understand it- but the line holds true all the way through- the flush and seven are very much in his range.

On a side note, make the preflop raise much bigger- that little click raise is not really doing much at all, make it around £1.20 with a hand as strong as AQ.

Unfortunately though, trying to take this line of representing a hand is literally impossible against stations, which is why they're great money if you play ABC against them- every time you get a big hand they'll call you down with 2nd/3rd pair. Try a c-bet against them, they normally fold if they haven't hit, then just shut down unless you hit. The other beauty of c-betting is that it normally shuts down their betting too, so you can see the river for free.

Just be wary whenever they start leading out or raising- DON'T make the mistake of thinking they might be at it! They ALWAYS have what they're representing (and I've lost a fair amount convincing myself they can't have it and trying to be a hero, so I know what I'm talking about here :p)

Dont bluff unless you know he can fold an 8 ( or even a small pp ) here. I dont really like flop raise. For some reason people dont ever beleive you have it on a paired board, especially on this flop its hard for him to fold any piece

Also deuces, flatting is definitely an option ip with a draw when someone donks on this board (I'm not saying raising is bad)

hehe liked to have seen ur face after he showed A8 lol been in same situation many times, a feeling of wanting to run away and hide :)

its all ways better to rep a hand youd most likely have!! A bluff is then mutch more believable to ur oppo, if you'd have floated the flop to rep the turn  there would be a higher chance you would have pulled off a nice bluff
