12k BH semi - land of the limps & min raises - time to copy???

Is it my imagination, or is the amount of min betting much higher in the nightly BH semi than any other tourney?
And this seems to be always the case. So what is it about this tourney that makes this, otherwise flawed strategy, so prevalent? And does one need to join them to beat them?

    made it through safely without stooping to their level
    weird how that one sat attracts them
