THE MONDAY NIGHT OMAHA CLUB - FINAL WEEK!!!

edited July 2011 in Poker Chat

Every Monday in July (4th - 25th), I'll be playing the 19:10 £3.30 PLO tournament and, for the rest of the evening, taking up residency at a couple of low stakes PLO/PLO8 cash tables.

As well as getting the chance to take all my money, you can also win some prizes.  Yes, I'm running a mini league.  You don't need to pre-register^ - and there'll be no trades, twists, turns, surprises or shocks :)

All you need to do is join me at the tables and you'll start earning points:

* 5 points for playing in the tournament

* 10 additional points for eliminating me from the tournament

* 10 additional points for making the final table of the tournament

* 5 points for each half-hour spent playing at one of my cash tables

* 10 additional points for stacking me at a cash table

At the end of July, the following prizes (donated by the very generous Sky Poker suits) will be awarded to the top three players in the league:

1st  £220 Sunday Roller entry

2nd  £110 Sky Roller entry

3rd  £55 Primo Entry

^ IMPORTANT:

If you enter the tournament, you will automatically be registered for the league and awarded points.

If you want your cash play to be rated, you MUST inform me when you first sit down at the table (one player per table, for a maximum of two hours).

is the dtd still going to run on monday nights as well?

If so its going to require a large monitor to fit all the tables on.

Yes - Can you do it on another day lol. Mondays is DTD Forum Tourney Day.

If I have to add any more tables to my multi-table madness on a Monday, I will need a bigger screen than the one they are gonna be using at the olympic stadium lol.

Not that i'm any good at Omaha, so I probably won't last long anyway lol.

Nice prizes - shame it clashes with DTD, I don't think I will be able to play both so will have to make a decision as to which to go for.

The easier option regarding DTD night to make everyone happy is remove one of the two Deep stack events and replace it with the 7:10 PLO tourney just for the month of July IMO! ;)

    Simples and that is all!............................

I like this - a lot, but how long on each monday night will you be playing the cash tables, will it be like 7pm to 11pm or what? One more question, it says 5 points for half an hour at one of your cash tables, if i play on two of your cash tables will i get 5 points on each of them for every half hour, and 1 more point (sorry for droning on) will not the 5 point / every half hour on the cash severely restrict the competition numbers, so if you have say 2 cash tables running, there is only room for 10 players to hog the table all night, thus collecting say 30+ points each minimum, even if in the tourney a player wins it and knocks you out they would only amass 25 points and then may not be able to get on a cash table?
PS im not having a go lol, i just thought to get things clarified before the off, you must luv organising these comps James lol.

    Good points and fair questions...

    * After exiting the tournament, I will always have at least TWO cash tables running.

    * I aim to play until 11:45pm.

    * You will only be eligible to earn points at ONE table at any one time.

    * You cannot earn more than 20 points for cash play in a single evening (not including the bonus points for stacking me).

Hope that addresses all your concerns!

Following on from loony's post, a couple of points from me.

IF this was just a simple one tournament League, you would IMO get many runners. As you are mixing up tournament/cash, I think the numbers may be reduced greatly (not everyone plays both formats). Then you will be restricting the numbers able to play cash  due to the normal suspects *cough* TommyD, Machka, Greghogg *cough* hogging the table seats.

I realise this is your club but may I suggest that you  possibly have two competitions running side by side....one based on a League Tournament results table, the other on just cash results.

This all depends on if you are trying to attract new players into Omaha or just setting up a private club for your regular Omaha players.

Just my observations James and I hope you can reply when you can.

    Cheers, Alan

    Hi Alan,

My ambition is to get as many people as possible playing both Omaha tournaments and Omaha cash.

I appreciate there'll be a limited number of seats available at the cash tables, but, as ever, it'll be first come, first served and there's no incentive for anyone (including the "usual suspects" - lol!) to play at more than one table, or for more than two hours.

I'm always keen to experiment with new formats and, as far as I'm aware, no one has ever run a league based on combined performance in tournaments and cash games. So, I thought I'd give it a go!

By the way, I think Craig's idea to incorporate the 19:10 PLO tournament into the Forum DTD for a month is an excellent one (an element of "crossover" between the two promotions can only be a good thing), but I appreciate this is a decision for Michael and Chris.

    Cheers,

    James.

Because I wanted to start the evening at 19:00 with a tournament and then move onto cash. The 19:10 £3.30 PLO event is the earliest tournament.

Who knows... If the Monday Night Omaha Club continues in future months, I may shake things up and include a PLO8 tournament.

To keep things simple, it's equal points to the six players who make the final table.

To be honest, this is a promotion aimed at players who want to play Omaha tournaments and cash. Unless you run golden for four consecutive weeks in the 19:10 event, I think it will be difficult to win the league without playing a bit of cash!

I'm not an Omaha player but it strikes me a little odd that your offering prizes for Holdem tourneys instead of Omaha.

If Sky Poker ran a £220 PLO tournament, I'd offer a seat in that as first prize!!!

EDIT: You may not be an Omaha player yet, but why not give it a go?
