Winning this would have made me chip leader by a fair amount, xxx had been pretty aggro, but hadn't been to any showdowns, so I couldn't ascertain whether he kept having the goods.

Guess I would have got same information with a 15k re-raise. I've pretty much shut down after he's smoothed my re-raise of his small lead. Screams strength.

Thoughts?

Thanks, Dan

Pot committed old chap. You have to call.

why are you raising top pair if you are shutting down if he calls?

Am assuming his lead, is to make me fold my 88, AJ type hands and he has nothing. Thought healthy raise from me would get the job done.  Maybe he has AK, but then wouldn't he shove pre? Maybe Kd10d, or he's suckered me in with bullets?

Perhaps "shutting down" is the wrong phrase. "über wary" would be better. K is a scare card for me.

I think I've played it badly, regardless.  Didn't really want to check call through the streets tho.  Stuck hand here for advice, tend to be a non-believer of big stacks later on?

    - fold pre?
    - raise smaller on flop?
    - call turn?
    - fold turn? (see now that I was pot committed, but with 12.5 bigs, am not completely out)

    Cheers

    Just call it off.

He could have Kx of diamonds, that would be annoying.

Its not bad if you put him on flush draw tbf but you have to call afterwards really as you have commited yourself

i think he has J10 diamonds!
your raise on the flop gives villain no fold equity, so you're folding out all his bluffs
i call turn / he could have hit the K, he could have picked up additional outs with the K, either way with the money you've already invested in the pot i think mathematically you sorta have to call.
