Oh, hi there internet!

So, we've made it to the Nevada desert. Tikay, Sky Claire - better known as 'Mother', 'Attila' or just 'boss' to Tikay - and myself have landded and *finally* get ourselves on the internet. Lots of strife, that. It seems that most of the rooms here have a problem with their network connections, which I am sure is going down well with the punters.

Anyway, welcome to the official WSOP update thread. As you will see from the header, this is our 'Pre-Tournament' thread, and each day Tikay and I will start a new thread to cover each of the individual day's action. You can catch our video updates on www.skypoker.com/wsop (which currently has a couple of videos and photos keeping the space warm for when the coverage begins in earnest), and myself and Mr Kendall will be doing our best to make you feel like you're here with us. Except you lot will have a better net connection, etc.

We're off to the airport in around 2 hours to meet the last five of our players. Matthew and Ryan have been here grinding tourneys and cash for a while now, while Thewy has been keeping Tikay on the straight and narrow in our absence. Arriving today we have:

Roy - w4rlock
Peter - kimpet
Chris - CoxyLboro
Jonny - terrell08
Andrew - andrew1947

...are touching down, unpacking and getting in to the groove. Rest and relaxation today, tomorrow we get them all checked in with the WSOP peeps, then it's out to dinner before the play begins on Thursday. Cards in the air will be 12noon, so 8pm your time.

In the meantime, let's get the Sky Poker roar going....

    Stupid question, number 1 of several probably, but...

    When does the actual ME start?... plus how many different starting days are there and what days are all our guys playing on?

    Not a stupid question at all, Alan.

    We've got someone in each of the four Day 1s, with the line up going like this...

    Day 1a - Roy and Jonny
    Day 1b - Chris, Matthew and Ryan
    Day 1c - Peter and Andrew
    Day 1d - Thewy

    Hard to estimate numbers, but judging by the rest of the Series I don't think the Main Event will be too far off last year's numbers, so around 6500?

    I think it all kicks off on Thursday so my understanding is

    1a) Thursday 7th
    1b) Friday 8th
    1c) Saturday 9th
    1d) Sunday 10th

    Day 1B- Friday
    Day 1C- Saturday
    Day 1D- Sunday
    Day 2A (2A + 2C)- Monday
    Day 2B (2B + 2D)- Tuesday
    Wednesday- rest day
    Day 3- Wednesday
    Day 4- Thursday
    Day 5- Friday
    Day 6- Saturday
    Day 7- Sunday

    Cheers Steve. I think I read somewhere (poss a TK Blog) that Reds is playing with Thewy so that would be 1D.

    The second day in Vegas then for the players. We're all present and correct, and we've had the chance to all have a chat and a drink while unwinding from the long commute.
