Pokers rigged.....in favor of those that are good at it.

This was a submission i made to sky for a blog a couple of months back. It was that bad it took them two months to reply ;0). Anyway i have just noticed (please set up a message alert sky!!) a message from them saying that I should post here.......which is really bad timing cause ive just posted a thread about my shot at NL10 tonight.....oh well.....

Hello Sky Poker team!!

After reading eyemans great blog last month and seeing so many new posts in A51 which outright accuse this site or the cards or god or what ever of being rigged, I wanted to write my point of veiw as a low stakes short term break even - long term losing player to see if we cant get some sense into skulls!

Anyway here it is -if you want to publish it then go ahead, if not thats fine also.

Egos a wonderfull thing - especially when you know it all

About 6 years ago i first discovered poker, not from the TV, not from my the internet but from Xbox live. I started of playing it because my mates were, then started loving it for the game it is.

After pocketing myself a few thousand virtual dollars i found myself thinking the game was easy. I mean all you had to do in a tourney was wait until all the other players had shoved and then you were in third place. You either broke even or won......time to start shoving any two!!

I decided that I was a natural and I should play online for real. I was the next Tom Dwan, nah I was better!! so I signed up to a poker site and i limped and limped and limped and shoved and shoved and shoved........until I was broke. It wasn't fair, the other guy got lucky soooo many times!

Of course by this point unbeknown to myself, I didnt actually know that an ace high flush beat a 3 high flush, so I was always going to suffer. I began to learn the game properly, i read about the use of agression and how useful it was. So i began raising every hand.......and went broke.

Then to make matters worse I began to realise the value of starting hands......wow this was it WSOP here I come!! Of course the fact I knew how to raise with a good hand didnt mean I knew by how much - 2xBB seemed sufficient with AA with 3 limpers and i certainly didnt know how to fold.........I went broke.

That was it, online poker was rigged, there was no way a master of poker like myself could go broke so many times. I posted it on the offending poker sites forum and told them I was withdrawing my remaining ($0) bankroll never to return.......

Then I read another book, an an article, and a forum post or several thousand, and they explained what to do at the lower stakes I played, what mistakes I was making, why I was going wrong. I tried it out. It worked. I began slowly but surely grinding a little bit of money........that time was two years ago.

It had taken me four years to even get a basic grasp on the game that would allow me to slowly win......god it was slow (teacher always told me I took time to pick things up.....but what did she know). By this time I had joined Sky, I rose my bank roll from £40 to £60, then to £80. Then I posted on the forums, I decided that I was so good that I should buy myself out of the limits I was at (NL4), deposit £50 and play NL10, everyone advised against it, so I took there advice......kinda.....I played NL10 without depositing and promptly sunk back to £40.

It was unlucky, the poker gods were against me, the site dealt action hands.........or.....and this was the truth which i finally realised after 5 years....I just wasn't good enough for NL10.

So since then I ground and ground and ground and built a roll to £160 to play NL8, then got drunk played NL50 (because im amazing dont you know!) back to £40, and am now back at £93*. I play part time so it takes a while. Trouble is, this time around my failings are down to me, not the site or the cards.

Im still at NL4......although winning faster and losing slower, which is always a good sign. I could blame the site, I could blame the signs - **** I could even blame it on the Boogey. Fact is, when im good enough ill progress and not before (a mini heater would be good though sky - wink wink).

I have finally got that good at poker to realise im not that great. That makes it much tougher to live with when your losing.........feels great when you win though........

GL at the felt

The Worm

*after an atrocious month and tonights "they are playing like donks, i can beat them" moment at NL10 im on £68..........still not rigged!! ;0) and apart from knowing my KK was beat and still calling, i deserve to be up - FACT!! LOL GL all.

Wait for some people asking if sky have paid you to write a blog for them saying it's not fixed, haha! Some peoples minds r seriously warped, can you imagine being that paranoid?

Shows how powerful the game of poker is if it can manipulate minds and mess with emotions the way it does.

Si thi at nl30 soon !!!

Worthy of Blog status, yes at a Quite Time as there are lots of players contributing and a glut of TK offerings. They are usually more that one Post tho and begs the Question do you have more. If you do, I would love to read them and you could always save them for quieter times and resubmit for approval.   "Or, Pop them on the Forum." as you do.?

    Great read

i can definatly understand the urge to play higher than your bankroll and that it seems to take forever to get your roll back up keep on grinding :)

I presume NL4 and NL10 refers to the maximum buyin? only just started seeing this dotted around the forum could someone please explain if im wrong. Ta

And it was done, as the lady of the mic has requested.

Nice post, really enjoyed reading it.

Honest appraisal of your own poker skills and limits, if only more people would face up to the truth.  Knowing the problem exists  is half the solution, Look forward to reading about your progress up the ladder
