To be honest Geldy - I was RUBBISH.
I could have said I was just unlucky - But...I was RUBBISH!!!
I could have said I was outdrawn - But....I was RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!
I could have said I suffered a couple of Bad Beats - But.....I WAS RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!
Truth be known........I was sooooooo bad, I think other players just felt sorry for me and just folded to my Big Blind......either to try and help me out or just for entertainment value (I'm not sure which) or........maybe they were laughing that much they just could'nt hit the bet button.
Let me tell you people....when it comes to PLO8 - I AM RUBBISH

OMGGGGGGGGGGG lol - when I read this post I thought I'd posted about myself exactly what I've been like all week!! I have played the worst poker of my life this week and was seriously considering calling it a day. Now I see that I'm not the only one having an off week so in a weird way I feel better lol (sorry boss sir - but it's true!).
I hope you all cash big soon - and I hope I rediscover how I used to play. I've even started looking round other sites but haven't joined any yet........ Now that I've discovered this cosy corner of the forum it's definately enticing me to stay put!!
Hi All I've just finished a good heads-up battle with bracewell1 and he nudged/badgered me in this direction to join you guys. I'd class myself as an OK player who blows hot and cold (I've won a few tournaments here, but then I've donked out early in some, as well). I play mostly for fun but it doesn't hurt that I'm in profit... bracewell1 threw me a few compliments when we played but I'm not sure how much of that was him just trying to massage my ego in the hope that I'd get cocky! I used to prefer SNGs but now I've found a taste for BHs. I'm awful at cash games (I could blame luck but it's not the luck, it's the shitness) so at the moment I tend to stick to the smaller MTTs. Pro-wise I'm a fan of Jason Mercier and Daniel Negreanu, and I also like watching Phil Hellmuth - but only to see him blow up when he gets beaten. Anyway, that's me. Oh, and the name wizball refers to a brilliant 1980s computer game. It was great fun and I was pretty decent at it so I guess that, on some level, I'm hoping that it'll help me have fun and be decent at the poker tables, too. Posted by wizball
Welcome to the madhouse Wizball - this must be the friendliest poker team I've come accross. I'm the newest member before you - so now I'm not officially the newbie (st) anymore lol.
Trev Chasing flushes when the flop is paired is a good way to lose chips i only called the river bet because you could have flopped quad 9s I hope this helps

Hi Dave That was a very nice hand sir and thanks for reminding me how bad I was lol
tbh - it was my very 1st ever attempt at PLO8 and I was well out of my comfort zone - I get by at PLO but PLO8 has a very different dynamic - but I don't mind giving it another bash, lets face it, I can only get better lol.
From what I saw, you have played a few hands before - put me to shame anyway

good on you trev - the cap'n leading by example
i would rate myself average at PLO8 - i don't know any of the more advanced strategy - but am still able to win PLO8 tournies just based on my general understanding of how to play poker, along with the rules of PLO8. (or maybe it's just variance). i've no doubt that with a little practice you'll be able to TID for TPT
personally i find it the most stimulating style of poker although tommyD did mention some more obscure variant (BADUGI) that looks interesting

Ummmmmmmm - excuse my ignorance here but what is PLO8? I keep seeing it mentioned but haven't got a clue as to what it is.

WD bracewell nice cashes.WD dale on another win and nice cash.Keep it going dale, the more cashes the merrier.Had a couple of goes at the spt quarter.Managed one 2nd for a little cash. Thanks for the rail trev dale and rawhand. jjjach02£14.40
I would post some of my recent cashes but if anything I'm down over the last 24 hours or so, so that seems almost pointless.
In the last 24 hours I've had just about every kind of sick result that you can think of and then some. Here are two great examples of what I mean:
1. Guy who seems to shove with any two picture cards goes all-in, hands are folded to me in the big blind and I'm sitting there with AA so I snap call. He has KQ, flop brings JT9. I played it cool after he apologised by telling him it happens but that didn't make it any less annoying...
2. I'm sitting there with A9s and min raise, everybody folds, guy in the big blind calls. Flop brings A72, he shoves, like he has done a million times with nothing. I call instantly again, knowing that he would have re-raised me pre if he had any A or a pair. The cards are flipped over to show he has 72os, giving him two pair and I'm done.
At one point I went out of four straight tournaments on river two- or three-outers. And don't get me started on the jokers shoving with J3s while I'm sitting there with a pair who then flop trips. Some sick, sick luck.
So, yeah, a few cashes but not enough to cover the losses caused by the bad beats (80 percent) and my occasional donking (20 percent).
I know someone said I should post every cash for team record-keeping but is it appropriate to do that when you've lost a little more than you've won over a 24 hour period?
Hi wizball its not the overall result that you post it's cashes in individual tourneys. For example: MTT buy in £33.00. No cash MTT buy in £5.00finished 3rd for £56.00 You would then post the result in bold and ignore the £33 tourney even though it may be a loss overall. But it's entirely up to you if you feel a result isn't worth posting.
With regard to your bad beats I assume your fairly new to Skypoker. This will happen now and again and sometimes it will seem heavily weighted in favour of the players making these VERY loose plays. In my view the standard of play on here especially among recreational players is shockingly bad and the law of odds dictate that they will win some hands but a good player will overcome that in the long run. We all have a bad beat story to tell and it's always identical. A better player will always come out on top in the long run.
Just like the say aswell congratulations to k8lou on thier birth of thier first baby yesterday morning. Why he/she hasnt been seen recently on here like, will most probably appear soon on the tables so congratulations again mate. Posted by bracewell1
Congrats to K8 and Addo. Plenty of early hours poker to come methinks.

Hopefully see you at the next one - Good Luck.
Just don't ask me how you play it - apparently you can win hands with High & Low Cards
Thanks for the welcomes, guys.
Good to see some of you doing well out there.
