So I'm planning to goto Vegas but not been before and I know a lot of people on here have been so was hoping I could get some advice on where to stay and general deals to get out there/advice when ur there....

Looking to go for up to a week, need flights and hotel obv, looking around it seems like it would cost about £700 ish but massively varing hotels and not sure which ones are best to stay both for being a decent hotel and for where the action is...was hoping to mainly play cash and maybe the odd tourney

all advice appreciated! :) thanks

Wicked! I love planning Vegas trips!

First advice is to google AllVegasPoker - really good website for Vegas card info
Also read Gixxerk4 blog on here

I have been 3 times, first time 7 nights 3 at MGM Grand (South strip) 2 at Flamingo (Mid strip) and 2 at Grand Canyon. The other 2 times I stayed mid strip at Mirage and Treasure island.

I much prefer centre strip so my mid priced hotel recommendation is Mirage or Treasure island, both very good although poker at TI is a bit naff, Mirage poker room is excellent and you are near Venetian and Bellagio for some bigger stakes if required. Caesars Palace is also a top poker room and centre strip.

Going a bit South strip is Aria which has the best room in Vegas (my opinion) with two excellent deepstacks and a thriving cash game scene which often includes Mr Negreanu. Also south strip MGM Grand has a soft cash games and 2 pretty quick but playable tournaments per day.

For Cash NL 2-5 I would play at Venetian
For Cash NL 1-2 I would play at Aria, MGM Grand or Harrahs
    For Tournaments I would play 7pm Aria ($125) Caesars Palace 7pm ($150) or 10pm ($80)
Daytime Tournament 11am MGM Grand ($85)

Fun cash play at O'Sheas, tables right on the strip 1-2 NL loads of drunk tourists

    Other must dos

    Bellagio Fountains
Go Downtown to the Fremont Street Experience (get pic at Binions with $1million)
    Mirage Volcano
Breakfast at H ash House a go go (Imperial Palace)
Bellagio or Wynn buffet (lunch) also Wicked Spoon at Cosmopolitan getting rave reviews
Grand Canyon / Hoover Dam (Hire a car - go to South Rim about 5 hours away)
Sirens of TI (naff pirate show, badly acted but free)
Ice bar (Monte Carlo or Mandalay Bay) - Don a fur coat and sit in an ice bar
    Kahunaville - fun cocktail bar
See a show (Tix4tonight booths sell cheap tickets)

Have fun! Remember all drinks are free while you play but drink sensibly!!

Flights - I have gone direct with Virgin twice and BA once, packages tend to be cheaper with LastMinute and Expedia etc, if booking hotel and flight seperately then some good websites out there with deals, google vegas deals etc

    Enjoy!

I went last year for 6 nights  - Got a decent deal on a suite in the MGM aroung £70 a night from what i remember. Didnt play any of the tourns there but the NL200 was a very soft game. $500+ in the 3 sessions i played - no more then 3 hours per session (had the G/F with me)

If i was to go back would def stay in a more central location, Bellagio, Venetian or Ceasers i'd have thought.

Played the 7pm Ceasers one night went out after 4 hands (ran my AA into KK AIPF) but the card room is great and so is the structure.

Went to see a Cirque would 100% recommend it, I saw Ka at the MGM wish i'd gone to see more of them now amazing entertainment (you cant play poker 24/7!!)

Unlimited drinks can get you into trouble if you take advantage too much the lure of BJ and Roulette take over!! If you fancy a drink play some $2 wheel of fourtune i had a great crack with the "dealer" and managed to make $20 last over 2 hours and 10 beers.

I fly direct back from Vegas with BA not a terriible flight its quite late so you can get some sleep, I Wouldnt get to the airport to early there's nothing there other then about 20 slot machines, think i got the 90mins before plane took off and that was more then enough! Just prebook your seats 24 Hours before hand.

If you are looking to play cash, the Imperial Palace is a gold mine at 1/2.

It is the biggest dump in the world tho.  But by far the best action that I found in Vegas.

The Wynn is a very good card room toom with a lot of 'richer' donks.  From memory the game there is 1/2 500 max coulda been 1/3 tho.  It is a very posh place tho!

The Mirage is also good for cash.  Looks a bit old school tho/dumpish.

Tournies you won't find a better more well run card room than the Venetian.

Make sure you get a points card....think most of them equate to 1$ an hour.

When you going out there?  I'm hoping to go back there in November!

Oh yh Binions is good too for cash but its downtown so about a 20$ cab ride.  But downtown is a bit funny too so you should def go down there just to look around etc.

Me/Pryce/Hursty went there on the weekend and all sat at the same table and tore it up....you must know how bad Pryce and Hursty are so you can imagine how soft it is.

That place is PROPER old school tho.  No hoodie/headphone combo...no 20 something valets dressed like hoo kers.  Dealers tend to be older.  Very well run and excellent value for you I would imagine had a lot of 40-50 Americans there.

    Nice dealers too....just ask Pryce6....

Scotty the imperial palace 1/2 game has got a bit tougher last couple of times ive been think too many players have heard how soft it was have found the venetian 1/2 far easier more tourists in that game yeah the imperial palace has seen better days but its clean enough and in the best location on the strip and its mega cheap lol and lets face it you only want a bed and a shower m8

hi been to vegas 7 our 8 times

planning a trip in january ive got it down to under £500 staying at the imperial palace

      for a week

ok not best hotel on strip but by far the best location and it has osheas next door

evening entertainment in the palace and osheas is good and free

downtown is a must as scotty said

freemont street light show is impressive

as for tournies our cash games

osheas runs cash permanantly and evern i won so it must be poor

have won tournies in most hotels just depends on what you want to spend

there are games for every bank roll on every day

i would visit the mandaly bay as the walk through aquarium is very impressive

mgm photo albums room is interesting with the elvis wedding album

top of the stratosphere is a great view and quality time can be watching people on the rides

shopping the vegas outlet mall past the mandaly bay is good and half way to the m resort well worth a visit so i would combine the 2

other than that go enjoy and explore your self

there a free bus to the rio from harrahs just saves a few dollars

the masquarade show at the rio is worth seeing

great tatto shop in the rio as well

ok must stop could type for hours
