Problems with Firefox

Hi I'm running FF5 and I know that private messaging isn't compatible with FF and I switch to IE if I want to message someone  but now i've noticed that any pictures or avatars awaiting approval are not being approved with FF but will soon show up with IE. I've not explained it very well so I hope someone can understand that. I want to keep FF my default web browser but is there any way to make IE the default browser just for Sky community pages?
