I was worried villian had hit a set of 8 after two flat calls from him hence i slowed down on river, should i have value bet or was it ok to check??

    I wouldve played it exactly same way alan. V a idiot player i would bet river but v the player you were up against its always safer to check river in that situation.

    most player would likely raise the turn with a set?,im sure jakally would....because hes got to be thinking that you have a hand worth callin a raise on the turn,  youve shown so much strength...and cant be bluffing, most prob! thats if he had a set ofc....but i would initially rule out a set.. so i woul bet river..and have a re-think if he shoved the river!

    ...but it looks to me that jackally hasnt played you much? looks like his aim is to go to showdown and see what the F£$K you have :) a bit of info maybe, who knows

    If you dont know the player then betting river is ok but i very much doubt a player as good as jakally would be paying you off any sort of medium to pot size bet on river and if you bet small to extract some sort of value you might induce a river raise and you dont want that when your already starting to doubt your strength.

    Check calling is easily the safest play here but that is totally player dependant imo.

    Now come and shoot me down lol :)
