What exactly does this mean?

Is it the worst hand versus players folding or not the best hand of the round?

Not only folding, you can call a bet on river and if opponent shows his hand first you can throw your hand straight into "the muck".  being the collected dead cards and burns, hence "mucked".

Just means electing to not show your hand.

You can show a "Winning Hand" when all players fold
    OR

You can show a "Losing Hand" when it comes to the showdown (River)

If you choose not to show a winning or losing hand, this is called "Muck Hand" or "Mucked"

Also the dealer collects all the dead cards, and keeps them in a separate pile, this pile of cards is called “the muck.”

If you do this, all your oponents can still retrieve your hole cards simply by going into the hand history located at the bottom of the table!
