appologies in advance for the moaning but seriously every torny ive played with a buy in of £11 i asume that people will play a bit better than in the 2 quid and 5 quid games but they get worse! i dont mind losing but when its like the first hand it just really pee s me off as theres no reason for it and bam im out of the game and down £22 quid, i get bad beats all the time but tonight in this torny some of the plays I saw even when not in the hand were appauliing even the pk3 call was not good i shoved hoping for double up or take the blind. the guy with the 45off im not sure wtf that was about i wouldnt of even called with the pk 8s hense my fold with the pk 7s. I saw a lot of good players in this torny and thought hey this will be enjoyable how wrong was i sat down at the wrong bloomin table me thinks.

hi Dazler, you lost with some big hands there :(

I had a go at this tourney too last night, wouldn't normally buy into a, £11'er but I'd had a decent cash on Sunday so I thought I'd treat myself cos of the quality players in it, always knowing that I wouldn't be rebuying or adding on.

My 1st table was pretty active, something I'd prepared myself for but my stack went quite low, I wasn't hitting many flops but I managed a double-up by shoving with 99 after a button raise, button called me with K,10 which was a poor call imo (pls correct me if my opinion is wrong)

I made the break with 7000 chips (pretty low in comp to blinds!) but didn't add on. 2nd hand after break, I raised with pr 10's, a smaller stack shoved, I thought I'd be ahead and I was! 10's v 9's ... he hit a set and I was below starting stack.

I got quite a few shoves through and built my stack back up slowly and managed another double up when I got a caller who thought his K,5 would be in front of my shoving range (hmmm?????)

Then, when I had about 10,000 chips, big stack raised, I shoved with AQsuited, he called me with his pr 5's, I hit broadway but was behind to his full house!

But hey, on another day, my hand holds up and I'm in with a chance of cashing amongst this quality field. I finished 15th, just 5 away from the cash so I am quite proud of myself really but here's the question that's nagging away at me ......

Was I wrong to shove with AQ following a big stack raise?

I hope you will reply Dazler and anyone else who might read this ....

I will be having another go next week

    Thank you

    Lorraine :)x

yes thats what attracted me to playing as saw a lot of regs on it unfortunately my first table had no one i knew. I cant really say whether it was a good shove or not without seeing the hand history, things to factor in 'What were the blinds' and was it a player with a wide range of cards he could be calling with? I think if you are that deep in the torny and went out in 15th which was a good effort by the way the blinds must have been quite big so better to get your chips in ahead of the big stack who made in my opinion a bad call prob with pk 5s, otherwise depending on how big his stack was he woulda shoved maybe before you and you would then have the desision to call with AQ at least you showed you were strong which is why i dont like the call with pk 5s. Its a basic coin flip in that senario so you prob did correctly. Can you post the hand?

I didn't play the tourney but watched a couple of tables late on as I normally do to watch & learn, I wished i HAD played it.lol There was an all-in 34s v 75o at one stage. I was surprised at the calling ranges.  As it approached the money bubble, instead of tightening up people were dropping like flies! It was good to watch tho!  IIRC Yoyo was the money bubble boy having been down to 700 chips at one stage early in the tourney! I can see how he got his name lol

You've got to remember it's a fast structure so people will be playing much wider ranges. Then with the rebuy option too this will widen peoples ranges even further.

It's the same with the Bounty Hunters, some players are happy to get it all in with just about any two cards hoping to get lucky.
