Do I bet here for value. I'm worried about this player. He seems to know how to play post flop and has checked raised me on the flop once in a previous hand. His bet on the turn looks like a strange bet, maybe to block me from firing again on the turn so that he can draw again to the flush. If I bet like 1200 here then he can shove and I have to fold right?

Villan has been playing a lot of pots so I don't think that KTc or QTc are impossible here or some kind of suited connectors either.

Around half pot is good and snap fold if raised.

I checked and he showed Kc9s. I think this was the right thing to do because I don't see him calling with anything on the river apart from an ace and that makes little sense the way the hand has played out. He either has the flush or a weak pair and suspects me of c-betting the flop with ace.

If it's right to bet for value then what hands am I getting value from?

On the other hand I might have him beat and if he shoves as a bluff then I fold the worst hand

your bet sizing is out IMO bet 600 min on flop if c betting and never let them take initiative with some stupid donk bet. If you put him on flush draw you should of 3/4 to pot bet turn and took him off it here.
As played check river but i don't think you should ever get yourself in this posistion
