    yeah betting 3 quid and calling a shove is absolutely idiotic.
     
    Id check call on end, leaves you open to a bluff as stated but still theres no real draws out on the flop so he isnt calling unless he intrested in that J.

    Check call anything under pot size bet for me :)

    Only kidding. I think this is a good check-fold on the basis of just the way this hand played out. As stated, there are few draws on the board and if he was floating on the flop and turn, then you just have to say well-played, fold and take a note of it. I suppose he could have been playing 23 or 45, but that's a very narrow range to put him on and a Jack looks more likely.

    This is why i'd always put in a smallish to half pot bet myself, if they then raise you then you pretty much know they've got the jack and you can fold. Everything else he just calls or folds.

    By not betting you've still no idea if they had it or not.

    I just don't see many air-bluffs in his range by the river. I think he's pretty much told you on the flop and turn that he has a Jack. Unless he's a super loose-aggro player, I'm pretty sure I'm beat after the turn. Maybe I make a mistake here sometimes, but if he is super-laggy I think I'd wait to catch him out later in a better spot, if I bear this hand in mind.

    Yh I have to start doing this, I'll admit a lot of the time it's like I just know they have the J and have played it like all good fish do waiting till river to make any raise but yh I should bet the £2.

    Thats not a good reason to bet. If we bet and he only raises Jx we have to get called more often than he raaises to make it good, which I'm not sure is the case here if we triple barrell him. I'd lean towards c/f tbh, unless he bets really small, b/f may be ok though

    and on the river, im nearly always parinoid they have the J, so i prob c/f to a large bet also

    i prefer b/f line - if youre going to check id fold to majority of bets

    Yh tbh I was a little concerned on this, I just reckoned making it enough so they only get 2-1 on the pot to call was ok but yh OOP it should be more.
