    Hi

You gave your oppo a chance to reconnect, so fair enough :)

Unless its someone you see as a friend,  who u regularly chat to etc..   Just steal them as quick as you can.   People would do the same to you.   Its not nice , but its reality.

While I agree that some, maybe even most, do it that way we should by no means encourage anyone to follow suit.

If your sense of greed overrides your sense of fair play, what does that say about you?

To the OP, 10 minutes is plenty of time, you have no reason to feel bad.

I would consider myself a pretty generous person, and not at all greedy. Poker provides me with most my income,  it just seems silly to wait when i can make extra money.   Would you work 4 hours overtime at work to help out without any pay?

I think 10 minutes was more than generous. I have a set pattern now I allow 5 minutes for the first disconnection. If it happens again I allow 3 minutes

Last night we were down to the last 7 players in the Primo and 3 handed at my table and I was the shortstack. I lost my connection to the table with 12 bbs and so did one of the other players.

I was offline for about 7 or 8 minutes during which time the remaining player, a gentleman called HAYSIE, had folded to our blinds. There was a lot of money at stake for every place on the ladder and yet Haysie waited for us to get back online.

    Thanks Haysie

You did the right thing and the norm is 5 minutes.

It really depends on blind levels and stack here, 5 minute rule is good but if the blinds are high then you should be entitled to rob them!

WD and big respect to you CJ

To be completely honest if my opponent disconnected (and they are NOT a player i have had good "banter" with or someone I have heard of on the forum) I would pounce. My computer and connection have lost me £160 so I need to take every chance I get lol

However I only play DYMs so if their is an "away" player I will steal every chance I get, as if I don't someone will anyway.

My comment was specifically for heads-up play. Obviously I don't expect 2-5 players to cooperate to wait for a disconnected player, but heads-up I think there is no reason not to wait up to 5 minutes.

I know i was just saying if I did play HU it would depend if had any connection to the opponent.
I agree with 1267 that it really depends whether you play for fun or profit

what an incredibly selfless thing to do, players like these should be rewarded in some way, especially doing it in such a big event like the primo where the money at stake is huge

hats off to you haysie, if only there were more people like you in this world
