LAST SUNDAY I PLAYED CASH IN MY LOCAL CASINO FOR THE FIRST TIME (PLAY MTTS THERE EVERY WEEK) BUT HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUESTION :-
AFTER BUSTING THE NIGHTLY TOURNEY QUITE EARLY I DECIDED TO TRY MY LUCK AT THE CASH GAME WHICH WAS GOING ON.. I SAT DOWN WITH £100 @ 1/1... I HAD A FEW BIG HANDS AND MY £100 WAS SUDDENLY OVER £700. I KNEW ALL THE GUYS AT THE TABLE AS I PLAY MTTS THERE MOST NIGHTS, EXPLAINED TO THEM THAT I DIDNT KNOW THE RULES BUT QUESTIONED IF I COULD TAKE THE MONEY OFF THE TABLE AND LEAVE THE £100 I STARTED WITH..
THEY SAID NO ??? I UNDERSTAND THAT THEY DO NOT WANT THEIR MONEY TAKEN OFF THE TABLE, BUT SURELY ME STAYING WITH £100 IS BETTER THAN TAKING IT ALL??
I DIDNT WANT TO UPSET ANYONE BY LEAVING STRAIGHT AWAY SO I SAT TIGHT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THEN GAVE THE TABLE 10 HANDS NOTICE OF ME GOING TO LEAVE!!
THE ONLY WAY I COULD HAVE REDUCED MY STACK WAS IF I STOOD WITH ALL MY MONEY.. WAITED HALF HOUR THEN I COULD SIT BACK DOWN WITH £100 AGAIN..
MY QUESTION IS :- WHY WOULD THEY PREFER TO PLAY WITH AN EMPTY SEAT FOR HALF HOUR RATHER THAN ME TAKE SOME MONEY BUT LEAVE £100 ON THE TABLE (THERE WAS NOONE WAITING FOR MY SEAT)

I DONT GET WHY THE TABLE WOULD PREFER ME TO TAKE ALL THE MONEY OFF THE TABLE TO TAKING JUST SOME?? I DONT UNDERSTAND THE LOGIC BEHIND IT?? THEY WOULD PREFER AN EMPTY SEAT TO MY £100???
It's called "weeding off" Sir, & is expressly forbidden in all Cash Games, everywhere, Live & Online. It always will be, too.
It's just the way it is.
Ive been told its to stop people gettinng annoyed and fighting
just what ive been told tho.
Anyone is free to leave at any time, but weeding off is just not done, ever ever ever. Players who get caught weeding off - & I've seen it lots of times - are treated like thieves & cheats.
If your never going to see them again I have no issue with a hit and run, its different if you are down your local casino.
You could maybe found people not so friendly if you had gone through with it and left immediately so fair play for playing on for a bit.
This is the strange difference between online cash and live cash. If I'm playing online then I buy in for the max and leave the table the moment I double up. This isn't rude it's good bankroll management. If I have £200 in my roll then I should play NL10. If I double up at a NL10 table then I have £20 out of £210 that I could risk in one hand.
So if you go to a live cash game and play with £100 at NL100 out of a £2K roll then why is it considered rude to leave once you have doubled up?
I've never played live cash but I think once I have a decent roll I might because the standard of play seems softer than at the same stakes online. But this has always puzzled me about the live game
