No poker software works on Sky. But to be honest if you're a new/inexperienced player, it's not realy gonna help you, and if you're really good and experienced, you can live without it.

Touch harsh, Quietman? It is his own opinion, that's all.

As for the question around software, Sky Poker doesn't support anything like Holdem Manager or Poker Tracker. Nor is it ever likely to, to be honest. There is some decent software that you can use which teaches you about ICM, for instance, but on the whole you're not going to be able to get a HUD or anything like that on Sky in the near future.

I am not overly aware of any business justification to it. What I would say is I think we have made a decision that it keeps the playing group as even as possible and means you can rely more on your own observation/note taking skills rather than just having a HUD feed you numbers.

Interestingly (and in parallel to your other thread on here at the moment about the effectiveness of forums), I think software like HEM and PT can sometimes make people *worse* poker players. Again, it comes to making sure you understand the numbers and the info you're given and also learning how to apply it, rather than just leaning on it and having it make your play more automatic. It really is a skill in itself, utilising tracking software and so on...

That's just my personal view on it. I use HEM2 on the sites I do play on as I think it's a tool many of my peers use and so it puts me at something of a disadvantage if I am not. However, I like the idea of Sky not allowing those kinds of software to be used as it means the playing field is more even and the game more organic. If that makes sense :P

Is that a str8 decision taken by the people that run the site Dave? ie, given the choice of allowing HUD's  or not, they decided against it?

Or is it more to do with it being complicated to sort out in terms of software/compatability etc?

It's probably a blend of both I would say, JJ. Like I said though, I am not going to claim I am overly sure of the overall business thinking around it.
