Hopefully tomorrow will see the end of this losing streak. Maybe there’s more to the rumour of a curse when posting selections? It won’t stop me though J
Two bets to begin with for tomorrow
Main Acca:
Middlesbrough to beat Watford (H) @ 8/13
Exeter/Carlisle – Over 2.5 Goals @ 8/11
Huddersfield to beat Walsall (H) @ 2/5
Sheff Weds to beat Brentford (H) @ 5/6
These 4 return a very decent 6/1
Middlesbrough currently sit in 3rd spot & are unbeaten at the Riverside this term. They came from behind to win at Doncaster in midweek & beat Derby last time out at the Riverside. Watford come into this game on the back of two wins against Peterborough & Brighton although they both came at Vicarage Road. On their travels it’s a different story as they’ve only 1 win in 7 on the road. They’ve lost the last 3 on the road & that should become 4 against a Boro side looking to leap frog my boys into 2nd spot.
After a slow start to the season Exeter have found their shooting boots in recent weeks & have started to pick up points to go with the goals. They shared 8 goals with Sheffield Utd at Bramall Lane last weekend & that game included there’s been at least 3 goals in 5 of their last 6 games. Carlisle are another side who concede as many as they score, particularly away from Brunton Park. Like Exeter their fans have also seen at least 3 goals in 5 of their last 6 games. Recent history is also on our side in this fixture as well with both of last season’s meetings producing over 2.5 goals.
Huddersfield are currently unbeaten in 41 regular league games, a run that stretches all the way back to December 28th when they lost 4-1 at Southampton. Tomorrow they entertain a Walsall side who have lost their last 3 straight & have only 1 win on the road this season so the Terriers really should increase that run to 42 games come 5pm tomorrow evening. This isn’t the greatest price on offer but it’s as close as you’ll ever come to an absolute banker.
Given the fact that Sheffield Wednesday have won all 7 games at Hillsborough this term I’m surprised they’re not shorter than this. Granted, Brentford are doing quite well so far & have only lost once in 7 away from Griffin Park this term (4 wins), but they’re not playing particularly well at the moment & last weekend’s 2-1 win at home to Chesterfield was their first in 6 in the league. 3 of their 4 wins on the road have come at struggling sides & with Wednesday’s perfect record on home soil this should be defeat number 2.
Massive Long Shot Acca:
Robin Van Persie to score in 90 minutes @ 8/13
Liverpool (-1) to beat Swansea (H) @ 4/5
Man City to score 3+ goals (away to QPR) @ 6/5
Hull/West Ham – DRAW @ 23/10
Leyton Orient to beat Hartlepool (H) @ 21/20
Gillingham to beat Northampton (H) @ 4/5
Southend to beat Oxford (H) @ 11/10
These 7 potentially return a massive 163/1 so only small stakes here. Let’s remember that it’s 163/1 for a reason! If I’m being honest most of these have been picked based on gut feeling rather than out & out form.
RVP has scored half of Arsenal’s league goals this term & after his midweek rest against Marseille (why?) he returns to the starting line up. Without doubt he’s a big reason behind Arsenal’s resurgence so he should grab another goal or two here.
Sooner or later Liverpool are gonna open a can of whoop @ss at Anfield & tomorrow’s visit of new boys Swansea could be it. If Swansea could take their home form on the road with them they’d be pushing for Europe this term but so far they’ve picked up a solitary point in 5 on the road & are conceding an average of nearly 3 goals per game away from the Liberty.
City are scoring goals for fun now & after putting 6 past their neighbours at Old Trafford the other week they’ve scored 8 in 2 games against Wolves & 3 past Villareal in midweek. Rangers were expected to get hammered against Chelsea the other week & tbf, on almost any other day they would’ve been. TBF to Rangers, they’ve only conceded 2 goals in their last 4 at Loftus Road since conceding 4 there against Bolton on the opening day but City are a team to be feared these days so it’ll be a long 90 minutes in West London for them tomorrow.
We make the long trip up to Hull tomorrow & I’ll quite happily take a point now. We’ve got injuries throughout the side & this will be a tough game. Hull are yet to draw at home this term but I think we’ll likely end up cancelling each other out in a 1-1 draw. TBH though, if we get the points & it happens to be the only game to kill this bet then I’ll be happy.
Leyton Orient have got themselves together are now unbeaten in 7 in the league, including draws against high flyers Huddersfield & Sheff Utd. In contrast Hartlepool are in danger of letting a good start to the season go to waste as they’ve now lost 5 of their last 6 league games. This price on a home win is big & shouldn’t be ignored imo.
It’s Gillingham’s form at Priestfield which is keeping them in touch with the play off spots as they’ve only lost once there this term. Northampton are the visitors tomorrow afternoon & last weekend’s point at home to Rotherham was their first in 5 games having lost their previous 4. I don’t particularly expect them to win by a big margin but I do think it’ll be a home win nonetheless.
Southend & Oxford are two of the three form sides in League 2 right now which makes this a tough call ahead of their meeting at Roots Hall. Having said that Southend have won 9 of their last 10 in all competitions & with home advantage this price is huge.
One final thing I would like to say is big respect to Billy Sharp this week. Quite how he managed to play just days after his 2 day old son passed away is beyond me & despite the defeat, at least he got the goal he wanted to dedicate to his son. Hold your head high fella, you’re a proper pro & put the likes of Tevez & Modric to shame when they say they can’t play because “their heads aren’t right”. Also, fair play to the ref for not booking him after lifting his shirt in the celebration after scoring. Good to see a common sense approach taken.
Good luck if you’re having a go peeps.
