concentrate or relax while playing poker?


I find that if I'm listening to music while playing it helps me concentrate and relax on the game.

But if I'm watching football or a film I cant concentrate.

Does anyone else do or have something what helps them?


I dont know if this is in the right part of the forum, if not can it be moved please

    Personally I listen to music while I play.  I have tried watching 865 while playing but have found that I get distracted by the hands being shown.

    lol..I've tried to watch 865 too but see a certain hand win, then I get the same hand and lose....lol

    I normally switch everything off in the house and get a can of beer, no distractions and the odd grab for the can keeps your hands busy

    I could'nt do that, I do need something else happening in my brain....lol

    I also think that I would'nt be able to play live games as I smoke and I would lose concentation getting cold turkey after about 40 mins.

    I have facebook, TV, kids noise and everything else going on. Just tend to get on with it and shut all distractions off as much as possible. Doesnt make me popular with the Mrs at times tho lol.

    Same here.

    I even put the phone on silent because hearing a text message come through bothers me lol

    I just sit & stare & sip & focus.

    yep, bottle of red and me ciggies . seriously though something gregghogg wrote was to make notes on players and the way they play, helps with boredom and will help your game ALOT in future games. hope it helps

    I genarally have every poxy soap on + her bleeting so decided to wear ear plugs , so far ive been out of every torn in 10 mins so its doing well 4 me!
