There should be a side event with a fiver buy-in for small bankrolls... It's Christmas...Do a present to the smaller dogs... Posted by GreekWay
Hi Greekway,
If you're after something with a smaller buy-in hopefully some of those side events will appeal. Also, the last UKOPS had a community-run Mini UKOPS in the week before. While I am not sure if that would happen again, it's definitely something to keep an eye out for.

Looks like a may have to cut down on the x'mas pudding, unlikely but Hey Ho! or should that be Ho! Ho! Ho! Here we go again.........Bring it On WD Sky Posted by POKERTREV
Agree
Im taking the WCOOP and SCOOP as an example here. adding the Xmas to the end just doesnt make much sense to me. And out of curiousity isnt calling an event after a Christian Holiday sectarian? Or at least that was my understanding to why we have to say "happy holidays" now.
suggests UKONYPS (UK online new years poker series) this way avoiding any major issues with the name. I know the abreviation doesnt exactly look good btw.

Hey Dave.
Thanks for the reply.
Why there are not any 5quid buy-in events? Anyone can play two of them and have better chances of winning instead of playing a single 11 buy-in.
Is there going to be an announcement for the Mini UKOPS?

the mini UKOPs was run buy the forum it was called FLOPS (forum low stakes online poker series) as was mostly for fun. Its just regular sky tournys that run the week beforewith similar events.
FWIW i really liked the idea but would have been nice if sky made and actual tourny for it with a reasonable GTE. Although now im living in a pipe dream

You can play £5 events whenever you want what difference does it make if its branded UKOPS or not?

Bigger guaranteed prizepool definitely. You can play also some 11 and 22 event in Skypoker. Why are there are some in the side events and not a 5er event?

the people that are willing to stump up £110 for a MTT arent interested in playing in a £5 tourn.
There's the mini event that shadows the main everyday which has a decent gte compared the the buy in
a £5 event branded UKOPs would attract a much bigger field therefore much bigger prizepool. That alone is a major +EV thing.
i think if sky created tournaments named FLOPs for the FLOPs the event would have been huge they make more money, we play more and enjoy etc. Ofc a large number of us includign myselff would play either way. But i think people who dont come onto the forums would be more likley to play.

Point 1 - Yes it does, its Christmas
Point 2 - No its not sectarian in any way shape or form, saying kill all non - believers, or death to the infidels would be sectarian
Point 3 - No we dont have to say ''happy holidays'' or ''happy winterval'' now, its still happy christmas!
Point 4 - How will it avoid any ''major issues with the name'' when there are no ''major issues'' with the name.

I say Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year is that okay ?
good to see UKOPS back although probably won't be playing anything this time round as usually at family all of the Christmas period but hopefully the 4 events go as well as the last
Thanks for the feedback on the UKOPS Xmas tourneys.
Re: the levels of the buy-ins, I think the idea is to keep them at a certain level to make sure the buzz around the event and the prizepools themselves carry a bit of prestige. If you think of a WSOP event which was a $100 buy-in, it would feel a bit odd, right?
Anyway, I hope as many of you get involved as possible!

yea agreed dave i was speak to dohhh and my point with buy ins seemed to come round wrong. UKOPS = Big Money
Great idea - Sky, most will agree this is a fantastic opportunity between the quiet period of xmas and new year and it will be great to play in anoter UKOPS and aim for another cash. (Some of us still have to work lol).
Some should realise that this site is developing tremendously, and SKY Poker will continue that in 2012 and so forth, so keep up the good work all, excellent being part of a great setup that will get even better and better.
I am sure all the SKY team are collating all ideas and will further market these next time round to aim for even better festivals to cater for an even bigger crowd.
