My exit hand in 8th spot from last nights TOTTY

Now.... I know I played it bad, but what should I have done instead in this spot.  I openly admit my endgame play still needs some work.

    fold pre.

its just not profitable to defend T8o oop even vs a minraise when you only have ~17bb stack

A little background might be useful too....

I'd been chip leader or there abouts in this tourney for at least half an hour and was playing solid.  I'd lost a big hand which cost me around 30K not long before this and had had my chips all in 3 out of the previous 4 hands to this so was probably at this point looking a little crazy!

I'd made his range pretty wide on the button, ie. almost any A, connectors and combinations of paints as well as pairs and of course monsters.  The min raise doesn't seem too suspect at this stage of a tourney so I didn't give it much thought

It cost me 3K to call to see a flop for 7500 chips (and I once busted a guy 1st hand of a tourney with 10 8 off so might have overvalued it.......)

I figure on a 10 high flop I'm good against alot of the range I put him on.

Thanks..... I kinda know that's the right answer, but had talked myself into believing that a call was OK for another 3K to see a flop.

disagree. Calling is  bad imo, but I would definitely consider shoving
