Mini Primo- flopped set in mulitway pot

edited December 2011 in The Poker Clinic

Another basic hand that i masaccred. I think i hae forgotton how to play.

My read on the opponant so far is that he always has it. I dont think he would be capable of floating and repping the flush. Im sure he has the flush alot here.

Questions

1. Flop lead amount?
2. should i check turn?
3. can i c/f here? what would u do otr?

id probably be nearer pot on the flop maybe even consider overbetting depending on the oppo. we're only worried about the flush on later streets. i probably just stack.

I think i might be tempted to check flop hoping he is aggro and will bet, allowing c/r all in. If he folds to c/r job done, if he sticks around close your eyes and hope.

As played you just KNOW the flush always gets there.

rancid i think youve actually came up with some good points latley. however at nit picking i think if we c/c and c/c river we're handing the oppo the hand almost. Greg already stated he doesnt rekon hes capable of bluffing here.

    )

rarther c/c turn and look to fill on river if we are sure oppo never bluffs

May even c/c river depending on amount :S

If oppo never bluffs and never bets/raises with worse with that turn card then….it kinda makes b/f pointless

Turn card does kill our action also, what is oppo going to be calling the lead with that we have beat

The turn card may just end up losing us max value from a set !

if oppo checks back turn, we v/b river

    someone once told me b/f b/f b/f

Now tbh in a £5 tourny im not folding a set without very valid reasons. I think our opponent could easily station the flop and turn with a worse set, even overcards with a heart, say KQ with the K of hearts good value hand for us or AK too.

obv i dont know the oppo and gregs notes are a little brief here, and im not sure they really help our desision. As soon as he says "hes hit everything" i believe greg instanly thinks, hes hit yet another flush. imo tilt

Turn card Is not great for us, it kills our action or helps oppo

In the face of an action killing card for our set we are not folding, so we b/f or c/c.

The turn card is either a good card for oppo or a bad one!

    If we lead, what calls//raises

    If we check, what bets

We have loads of equity, so no fold – I am not saying fold at turn !

If we fill on river, happy days – if oppo checks back turn – v/b river

    If we miss – maybe c/c or c/f – depends !

The only question we have is – does oppo bluff here or overplay hands in these situations !! Not easy )

BTW love the mankini !!!! :D

Also the flat pre doesn't help us at all does it :)

    Bet/bet/shove!

Who cares it's early stages of a £5 tourny, u aint wasted much time or money, he can call with worse.

Playing with stacks like this in spots like this is so awkward.

    Short or Big ftw! :)

Well I guess the only debate should be, do we play the same if it’s a £5 or £55 tourney )

    Maybe our line should be:

Yipeeeeee bet/eeeeer bet/sod it shove !! O f!!k he got it – kick cat !! or yaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh open the fourth beer - oppo is so bad !!

    agree with dohhhhh

there are fish all over the place in this type of tourney so im never folding a set.  if i lose i just buy in to the next one or go back to cash tables.

obv a £55 is different as the standard of opponent is a lot different.  im still not folding though.

at the early stages of every tourney im looking to build a big stack so i can run deep.

I have to agree with all three of you to a certain extent
If getting a stack early > than busting early then bet/bet/shove !

But I still find it hard to see worse calling us down here, they gotta be crazy !
    Like what the **** has oppo got ? set/Qxh/draw - !!!

LOL as i said you just know flush gets there. Well done on not going broke i am fast realising that in mtts it is pointless trying to price out flush draws, they seem to hit too often.

In Response to Re: Variance is it just code for getting donked out?? :  Sporny, i find it incredible the number of times  flush draws get there. Have now come to the conclusion that if flush draw is on there is no point in betting big to deny odds cos they will chase anyway and when they hit in an mtt you are  usually out or at least crippled.
