I make normal cbet on flop so about 130-150.

On turn if flop called bet again so here bet about 200.

If called again on turn just bet close to pot on river.

Here you've bet small to not scare him away but by doing that the pot stays small and what you can win stays small, think how you would you play it if you had say AQ/77 on this flop, you'd make a bet bigger than 20 right so you have to keep the bets the same to not give info away and in this spot a guy with AA probably wouldn't fold to bigger bets so you get paid.

Could you have made more? Definitely. Could you have stacked your opponent? Possibly, depending on whether he's good enough to get away from AA.

I hate that uber small bet. It polarises your range - either you've got a monster and you're trying to look weak, or you are actually really weak, so your opponent has just called you down and hoped the latter. However, if you put in a sensible bet on the flop (Half pot or so, look like a standard c-bet?), you'll still get called by someone with a flush draw or pocket pair, maybe even re-raised.

I'm sure you wouldn't usually make that 20 bet on the flop and 40 on the turn most of the time, so when you do, it immediately makes your opponent suspicious.

Yeah, new I should of bet bigger, was trying to bluff a weaker hand, and wanting him to make the raises.

Also didn't want to go too big to just scare him off and that way not build a pot.
Certainly didn't guess he could have Aces with his flat calls.

Obviously he didn't read my plan or hear me saying bet big against me!! lol

Still learning bet sizes in the early stages.

    Cheers all.

What a shame man nice to get but you lost ur man on the flop for me dude. You hit the world and then put a crying call bet out you know he ent got a K right lol you need the guy to have a hand to get paid remember. In these spots i like a big bet on flop then if u get a customer a check on the turn kinda telling him the story i got a monster then ok i was lyin. then let him hang himself

I understand the idea behind betting small on the flop but it is flawed logic. If you bet half the pot then you are saying nothing about your hand. Your opponent will either have something and call the bet or he will have nothing and will likely either fold or try to bluff you off the hand. If you bet small pretty much the same thing will happen, however you will win less when he calls.

If you are certain that they have nothing and don't want to scare them off then just check. Then have a bet (about half the pot) at the turn if it is checked to you again. This looks action looks like either a king or a nine to your opponent and if they have an over pair then they may think you have a nine and pay you off.

Think you should be betting your monster hands though. Most times people will just fold anyway.

The other side of the question though is, if I bet big and he reads I have the Kings, he could just fold and I get nothing in the pot!

Even if he gives me just 1 King, then any bet too large loses him from increasing the pot.

Is there not a balance between getting something in to build a pot and just scaring them off and they fold so no pot growth to win?

Surely his betting is too small as well?
and in theory he's also in position as well, surely the advantage is with his Aces to try bet me off?

If you had the Aces, what would you do there?
