Cash Statistics - Session, Day, Month and Year

This is a question for the cash grinders and how you keep a record of your performance right down each session. Ive now accepted that if I personally want to make any serious money out of poker, cash is the way forward. Whilst I still want to play sit and gos, I cant seem to crush them like a few months ago and early last year.

Can anyone explain how they keep records, is it possible to look at historical cash sessions in the my account section as I cant seem to get this working properly.

Also what is a reasonable win rate at nl40, 4 tabling 6-8 hours a day and how long/many hands would I have to play to assume that I can beat this game.

Ive had a couple of huge winning sessions, but I know this wont continue forever. With the happy hour, it is possible to rack up 120 points 4 tabling. You make priority just playing 3 hours a day at this level but my points target this month is much higher. If I can break even and get up around the 20k level its still a tidy cash for points bonus. If I can make a profit then happy days.

I just note down each day of the month. my starting bankroll on that day and my bankroll at the end of the day.

Some people also seperate their winnings so list cash seperate from MTT winnings etc.

Some also find it useful to list how many hours they have played.

I have a spreadsheet where I record each session, I enter the level I'm playing, how long I played, and profit/loss. The spreadsheet then has formulas to calculate my cumulative profit and lots of other helpful/interesting stuff like cumulative winrate per hour etc

PM me if you want me to send you a copy of it.

I used to have a spread sheet for EVERYTHING. I had MTTs, STT, and cash all seperated and how much I sat with / stood with. I stopped this a couple of years ago, because to start with it was a case of am I making money at poker or losing? I don't want to believe I am if I'm not. Now I know I reguarly make money I don't keep such precise info.

I keep my BR at a certain figure and every Sunday night I cash out anthing I'm over that. If you go into your account transactions you can search for all withdrawls/deposits up to 6 months (I think you can now search further if you want) Add all that up and divide by 6 and that gives you an idea of your average monthly winnings.

As for how much is a good winning session? Well I posted exactly the same thing in the Poker clinic I think its called "How good is a good session" and got a very good reply by Sikas and got some +1's by other regs as well, so have a look at that and it should help you alot (It did for me).

Any more questions send me a PM or something. I don't mind going into details and stuff like that.

I also keep a spreadsheet, not sure it is on Lamberts wavelength though.

I keep one for cash, which is really basic, just add all the losses in to one column, and all the winnings in another and take the losses from the winnings and you have a really simple way of keeping a track on how you do at that level. Obviously i have one for each level i play.

I also keep a seperate one fr SNG's for DYM's which lets me see what levels i can beat (if any). One for HU SNG's too.

Mine is really really simple but it seems to work for me. I may complicate it further as time goes on.

Thanks for taking the time to post. The reason im asking is that im quite geeky when it comes to stats and for stuff like sngs, sharkscope is there to do all the work for you.

You might have noticed im playing much more cash since christmas and have made more in a week than I did in the best sng month ive ever had (last sept). I most certainly dont think ive crushed the game just now feel its time to move over to cash and find out if I can consistently show a profit. Ive played cash before at all levels up to nl200, but not over an extended period of time. I feel as though ive found my home at NL40 and will see how things go over the coming weeks.

When I talk about win rate, dohhhhh mentioned a good win rate at nl40 is around 8xbb per hour, which four tabling works out at £12.80 per hour. Not to be sniffed at if you put the hours in. He also ribs me about my 89 putdown on the 10jq board, sigggh !

Edit, I saw sikas reply on the other post quoting 5xbb, im miles ahead of that having played around 60 hours poker over the last week. Im nearer 8-10 bb per hour per table. I guess variance will bring this down but if i see more than 3 regs on a table and ive made a good profit, I stand!

    Hi all

through 2010 I kept records like a nit and had an ok year. through 2011 i thought i had a good year but kept no records (so i don't Know) and my BR management was poor at best but enjoyed my poker up until Dec. Dec was a poor month on one site no records but i put money in every week.
For x-mas i was given a subscription to a poker records site form a poker mate. i put all the records from dec into it, live, each online site i played, what game e.g cash MTT, omaha, stud, and raz all in one place. after spending all dec thinking i was running bad i was making money only a small amount.

what i am trying to say is if you are serious about poker you have to keep records. because without records you have now idea how it is going and the greater the details the more you know.

    DAI
