As a general rule no of outs X2 for one street X4 for 2 streets is a good rough guide to work out % equity, although the X4 one usually breaks down a bit when number of outs gets big. You can also use pokerstove (its free) to check specific situations
Have to agree with GT. The 2,4 rule is pretty accurate. For example, if you have a flush draw on the flop and only the flush will win you the hand, this usually means you have 2 same suited cards in your hand matching 2 same suited cards on the flop, this leaves 9 cards left somewhere which completes your flush and wins you the hand so you have 9 outs. Multiply this by 2 to give you a rough % on hitting the flush on the turn which equals 18% and multiply it by 4 to see the % of hitting over the turn and the river combined which would equal 36% in this case.
