Thursday night live with TK and SC *****official show thread*****

Happy new year poker people!  How's 2012 treating you!?

Please be gentle with tikay, the stylist's in first thing in the morning and she's really got it in for the burgundy jacket...

Anyway back to the show!  We're focussing on the 15K Sky Sports Bounty Hunter and the 5K Sky Roller live on 865 from 8pm and Sky Sports 4 from 10.

The obvious questions first then:  made any new years resolutions!?  broken them already!? More importantly have you set your poker goals for 2012? let's hear them...

And let's have YOU BE THE GUEST

Let's have you tell it like it is.  Let's have your say on the poker play, the mistakes you see made, the advice you'd give to use and improve.  If I threw you a question on short stack play in MTT's for example... how do you play a short stack? what do you consider to be a short stack?  I'll throw more questions as we go so GET INVOLVED!

And finally for now... since 2012 is the year of the London Olympics which songs are guaranteed Olympic airplay?  I'm going for Spandau Ballet 'Gold'!

    Improve bankroll management, no more than 5% of bankroll at a table, and not broken it yet :P

    Only skim-read this the first time, wondered how it was going to work, I thought you were going to start phoning people up and getting them on air to review 2 or 3 hands, that'd be pretty interesting thing to do on the show :p Alas, I remembered that Sky Poker is on an 11 second delay, and this wouldn't work very well as a result :(

    Short stack? Depends on stack in relation to the blinds, as well as average stack in relation to the blinds. If most players only have 10 big blinds, then 20 big blinds is a pretty big stack. However, as a general rule, anything below 20BB or so and I'll start looking for spots to 3 bet all in, anything below 8-9BB and I'll usually just stick the lot in, only plays at that stage are all in or fold.

    I hate the Olympics more than Tikay hates Christmas. I'd imagine what ever X Factor rubbish is most popular at the time will be played to death, too. Suppose I'll just have to lock myself away somewhere with the laptop and play poker instead for a few weeks, what a shame.

    Hi all and have a great show.

    My poker resolutions are to play more and play better.  So far so good, only 361 days to go to keep it up.  My poker goals are to play at least two SPT events and to take down a main event here on Sky.  Well I can dream can't I :)

    When I have less then 10 big blinds left I have two moves.  All in or fold.  Between 10 and 20 if I raise I always know what I will do to a reraise, either all in or fold, depending on the player and their stack size and, of course, my hole cards.

    The song I expect to hear on the radio is we are the champions by queen.  Either that or stop crying your heart out by Oasis, only if it all goes wrong

    how do you play a short stack?

    play a short stack like a hyper turbo being short stacked is like a gift for me cause im a degen for hyper turbos :D
    basically get it in with most Ax hands in the cut off/button hands like KQ KJ JQs im shoving with basically range become pretty wide with a short stack as there are a lot of people that play a bigger stack so tight that makes them so easy to shove on and know they are only going to call with specific hands

    what do you consider to be a short stack?

    20bbs and below sometimes 15 and below w/ Antes are when i start to look for spots to get my stack in

    without antes 12bbs and less

    Who cares about the olympics? It is a waste of money that could be better spent on getting the country out of debt rather than a bronze medal for cycling.

    Was just about to write my NY's poker resolutions being about not blaming others for their actions and always looking as to what I could have done to play the hands better when Tikay said exactly that on the show. My other is not to type donk/fish etc in the chat box when I've been suckedout on/bad beaten/donked or whatever you want to call it. Now I either type 'meh' or NH,WP(even if I dont mean it). I've failed a couple of times but typing 'meh' etc helps control the tilt and actually helps me concentrate on the game,thereby improving my game. Doesn't make up for my shocking lack of poker talent though!!!!!

    I always hear about the trips to Vegas. Will there be qualifiers in the future for something similar? I am hoping I'll be able to play live sometime later this year or early next year, so would love to qualify for a big live tournament sometime in the future. Best wishes. Shaun the Villa fan in Bham.

    As Tikay hasn't answered this I can only assume that he doesn't know, so I will answer it.  It takes 8 hours to fly from RAF brize Norton to Ascension Island, aproximately a 2 hour stop there (plus any delays), and then another 8 hours to Mount Pleasant Airfield in the falklands.  However, last time I flew there it took a lot longer due to the ash cloud, a total of 21 hours in the air and a 6 hour delay at ascension.

    Hi there guys

    Great show as usual, used some of my Primo winnings to enter the BH tonight, got a bit card dead, was not my night tonight.

    Will be defending my Primo title on Sunday.  Hopefully this week it will be tellivised !

    Sort of. Well, yes. Umm, actually, no.

    I see (wrongly, no doubt) American States to be the equivelant of UK "Counties", so on that basis, Hawaii being 5 hours by aeroplane from the Coast of USA, seems quite odd to me.

    The Falklands? Fair point, it is odd, but that's really quite different, it's, technically, a "self-governing British Overseas Territorry" (thank you, Wikipidea!), with GB being responsible only for it's Defence, & Foreign Affairs.

    I agree, though, all very odd.

    Fact always beats fiction, eh?
