It may be a new year but some things never change- Sky Poker TV may well have been broadcasting now for half a decade but it seems no matter how hard I try I am constantly paired up with the nation's grumpiest old man...
To get you in the mood for the two of us- watch THIS rather bizarre 60 second clip...
Yes, it's Orford and Kendall
...for the first time together in 2012 and we'll be bringing you 4 hours of fresh live pokertainment with the focus of the evening being the Sky Roller and Sky Sports Bounty Hunter.
As you know, we can't do it without you- so please fire off all your thoughts and musings on to this thread so I can read them out on air from 8pm till midnight this Thursday night. We'll also be simulcasting on Sky Sports 4 from 10pm.
Now, here's a good topic for the show...
What life lesson has poker provided for you?
In watching other people at live tables and also in the chatbox online, one lesson that's become clear to me is to always accept defeat graciously.
It's not classy to do otherwise and you only let yourself down if you rant or moan about it. This applies to life as well.
Any others? I'd love to hear about them and I know this is a subject that Tikay will particularly like too.
Cheers!

We had a call from the nurse today that we had to go up and see the surgeon about Barry. He confirmed that they were not able to remove the cancer during the operation as it would have been too risky. He basically had x2 problems - diverticulitis and the early stages of bowel cancer. They had to sort the diverticulitis as it was the more urgent problem. They are still working on his breathing and he is to stop smoking. It's going to be at least 6 weeks before they can operate on the cancer, if everything goes ok.Not the news that we were hoping for at all, and very disappointed it took them until today to tell us.

No sign of the old dear yet though.
I think they open his crypt around 6.30...
Keep those life lessons from poker coming in please (see opening post for details) and dont forget, if you're Twitter then you can tweet the show tonight and discuss it with your fellow viewers LIVE by adding #skypokertv to your messages.
It's faster than email or the forum and I'll see it in seconds. As to whether or not I'll read it out, that's another story...

'its okay to make a mistake, aslong as you don't make the same mistake twice'
poker example - You could 4 bet shove all in A10 for example, and then be up against AA. Knowing this most the time is unprofitable after you run into the bullets, may help a player to reassess and maybe fold once the 3bet comes in, saving the player tonnes of money long term.
real life example - Being a maths student, or anyother student this would relate. Say for example i make a mistake on a practice exam, this would be fine aslong as i don't make the same mistake again on the real examination.
There are many others, but i think poker really helped with my studies in many aspects, wether it me correcting mistakes or planning.
