I have played couple of times the above tournament
@20:25 and I think that a better structure is definitely needed. In the latter stages and in the final table of the tour almost everyone has around 8-12 big blinds and the tour becomes more of a gambling.
I know Omaha is a new game on Skypoker but in order to get some people playing it decent structures for tournaments are needed.
Comments
The current structure is taking around 2 hours to complete ( blatant brag..I won it at 10.15 last night !) and making it longer may put off some of the casual players, who may be reluctant to invest more time in a longer tournament.
So I doubt if its going to happen for a while, but I know what you mean. I enjoy some of the smaller hilo touries during the day.The ones with only 6 or 7 runners usually end in great heads up battles where both players are still deep enough.
Well done to Alexis tonight.
If anyone has any other ideas about getting more people involved please do post them here.
I wonder if we could blag a free tourny entry from Sky for a monthly league ?
I would love to learn to play HiLo properly but I'm not really prepared to fritter away my bankroll doing so......I learnt / learning Omaha by playing the freerolls and micro dym's but as yet Sky have not got these running for HiLo (or maybe haven't got the traffic to do so).
My thoughts on getting more players to try HiLo is to get some deepstack freerolls (normal structures would be much less beneficial imo as the game would be over far too quickly for most newbies). I would love to see micro stake HiLo stt's to enable a few of us to get to grips with the game.....gd luck guys.
Ps: wud love to see Penguin/Imber and the regular Omaha players take a lead in getting Sky to achieve this as I'm sure you would have more sway with the the suits etc;....gd luck.
Ps:.......The cheapest Omaha HiLo stt is £2-10p Hu..........I am convinced that is far too expensive for many to learn a highly skilled game.
Geldy is a respected holdem player, and because he often plays that game at much higher stakes views this tourny as a bit of fun.
billyboots is keen to learn the wonderful game of hilo, but sees it as an expensive education.
I share Geldys views, and if I am still running in the main event and also entered for a £100 buyin tourny at 9pm it maybe not positive to be playing a hilo tourny with a top prize of maybe £50 at the same time.
billyboots is also right in saying that there is a case for offering micro and freeroll hilo events, but would there be sufficient interest ?
I basically learnt the game by playing the £1.10 MTTs during the day. (11.55, 14.55 and 16.55). These have built up a good following now usually with fields of up to 20. And provide a couple of hours fun and learning for a pound.
However if freerolls are offered I would support them when I could to help new players.
We then get its into the studio and play out and get talk through the action.
Later in the year we will be developing the consoles so can show 'live' like we do with some cash and tournament at the moment
We really do need some help from 865 to bring hilo to a wider audience. Its good to hear that they are thinking about it. I would be willing to get involved with it.
Another thing I would like to see is a regular hilo cash game starting up. Tikay, MereNovice and a few others did have one going for a while, but it faded away.
Give me a shout if you want to sit at a table one night and see if we can get some interest by posting here on the forum.
Anyway, I am in for tonight @8.25
Anyone else up for it ?
PS....... I think I used up a fair amount of rungood there, Imber !
Shame I could only make 8th though
I quite like the structure as it is too fwiw, lets donks like me win lol
