NL40 - KK and tricky turn spot

I have no notes on villain and dont recognise the name at all.  have played a couple of orbits with them but nothing unusual has been showndown.  im playing relatively tight (which probably isnt very tight at all) and havent done anything out of the ordinary.  its a fairly passive table and im raising and reraising fairly regularly from position.

what would you do in this spot?

checked flop to build pot on turn as the short stack will almost always take a shot at it.  i called turn to get villain into the pot but didnt imagine he would be reraising

Yeah has to be a bet on the flop with two oppo's, can't fathom why you'd ever check, you have good chance of having best hand so build pot.

Turn probably fold as he can't fold with that bet and looks like he's praying for call.

if our opponent has 40 quid stack to start the hand I wouldn't be so sure, as it is with 7 quid behind get it in. You could call and call non draw completing rivers but it's such a small amount relative to whats in the pot and you really dont want to be making a mistake on the river.

bet flop even with your read imo

as played get it in, you set a trap dont see how you fold now

dudeskin, how does that bet look like he is praying for a call

In that he's check/raised most his stack so can't fold and hence wants a call.

As played i think you have to call because he could have done this with alot of hands worse than kings. When you say you called to build on the turn surely you should be raising the bet from the shorty to protect from exactly what happened???
