Thursday Nights Sky Roller

I'm not one for posting too often, but as a regular contributor to Thurs and Sun nights rollers i wish to convey my thoughts and seek other regulars opinion. I'm disappointed it has been put back to 9pm (yes i kinow it's so it falls into line with the rest of the week).... It means a probable finishing time of 1-2 am, and for people like myself who have to get up 7/8 ish for work, it makes it awkward (if i somehow spawn my way deep into it). Might have to give it a miss, the outcome being £100 less value in the tournie.... What do the other regs think? Could it not be moved back to it's original time if there's enough people in agreement with myself?

Cheers

Neil

    + 1

Timing this well structured tournament for 9pm is going to be outside of a lot of peoples timeframes if they've got work the next day, 8pm is much better!!

just another case with sky of accomadating the online pros as everything they do these days is benefitting them

How is having a start time of 9pm benificial to online pros??? Would make no difference if it started at 7pm, 8pm or 9pm...No doubt there is good reason for the change, but I myself would like too see an 8pm start just so the added value Joesman can play :)....

That is a little unfair, Chillie, & wholly wrong, too.

I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure the thought process was totaslly different, being....

    1) Get some symmetry & pattern to the schedule, "£110 Tourney 7 nights per week @ 9pm" is an easier message than different times for different nights. Thus far, the 9pm £110's have exceeded the Guarantee every night. (Though perhaps not tonight!).

    2) We had a lot of feedback from players who bust the 8pm Biggie for something else to enter if they exit the 8pm Main early.

    3) It makes sense to have a strong schedule for the whole evening, not just 7pm - 8pm.

For what it is worth, this thread was started @ 10.29pm last night, & I sent it up to the Suits at 6am this morning, commenting that maybe these views should be considered. So they are already being considered. I'm not sure feedback could be acted upon much quicker than that!

The room grows ever bigger, nothing is cast in stone, & they need to keep innovating, changing, tweaking, faffing & nurdling with everything. They will not get everything right first time round, mostly they do, some they don't. Better to try & fail, than not to try.....

I do know for sure that if it fails to hit Guarantee much, or often, it will soon be addressed. For now, however, a sample size of a handful is not necessarily significant, given the size of the player base here these days. Who knows, it may revert to 8pm next week. Or not.

Anyway, suggesting it was "just another case" of something done purely for the benefit of the pros is completely incorrect. If the site were run purely for the pros, it would not survive, let alone prosper, as there are not that many of them. And they could play these whether it were at Noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm, or 10pm, it makes no odds to them.

    9pm yes - yes - yes

maybe not every night - they could maybe alternate between 7pm & 9pm

I work long days - I would rather have the choice or entering a tournie knowing I might not get much sleep, than not entering at all. And those lucky days I get away early how great it would be to be able to play the semi instead of having to buy-in at the full price. Alternating either side of the Main Event at 7pm & 9pm might be a way to test the appetite for each while giving everyone a chance to play.

I gather there were 65 runners for this last night, which is about the usual amount, maybe a little more. The Guarantee requires 50.

If I hear further from upstairs, I will let you know.

I like the 9pm start as it gives me chance to play the semi at 7pm - £110 everyday challenges my bankroll.  I get up for work between 6.15 and 7.00, but sleep is for wimps imo.

The timing of quality (not those stupid frenzy's) satellites are vital for me, so I guess the 9.00pm start is better for the satellite boys and girls, then if I get in and run deep I have no problem playing past my bedtime!

Unless I start running (or playing) like TommyD, there's no way I am going to be buying in directly, but as long as there are quality satellites available I am always going to be looking to play as many sky rollers as possible.

I wish you would make your minds up. tk you should know better then most that us older players need our routine to say steady, given resent memory loss and the like. i need to know in advance do i have me mug of whisky at 8 or nine. last night i had my first mug at 8 only to find out it started at 9, which meant by the time it got down to 25 players i was on me 3 mug. this made me shove were normally i would have folded. so my 10 10 was busted by  RAG AK. im sure if you had left it at 8 i would not have made that donk call, so come on tk we count on you to look after the interests of your fellow elders in this matter.
