Hi Guys
As you are aware I recently lost my wife, Lynne (Dragonfli), after a battle with Leukaemia, yesterday we said goodbye to her.
I thought I would like to put a post on the forum to thank you all for the messages you have posted to her throughout this period, I know that your messages helped give her the strength to fight to the end and the messages in the last 10 days have really helped me cope through a very very sad time.
I have printed all your messages out and shown them to Lynne's mum and sister, they have been read over and over again and have been treasured, you have made a difference in our lives and I thank you very very much for that.
The send off yesterday went exactly as planned, it was a happy affair to celebrate Lynne's life and everything she gave to those around her, it was not a sad affair to mourn her passing,
I was really touched to have several members of the forum attend, not only the faces of friends we knew but those of Sky players we have shared banter with in the chat box but have never met before, thank you very much for coming. As usual Hitman made a big impression, I think at least 10 people told me what a nice man he was, cheers Dave.
Well I think I will end now without rambling on too much, I am coping by being really busy in my job at the moment, it is tax return season and being a chartered accountant I now have to work 12 hours a day at a minimum to the end of the month.
I will be back playing on Sky poker soon, I normally play at the end of the day to relax and although I haven't been on for a while with the events unfolding in my life I do miss my "poker family" so if it all right with you I hope to be back sometime in the next week or two, I may not be as talkative as usual in the chat box at first but I will be there.
So a big thank you again to all my friends on Sky Poker, I am very proud to play on the site and be a member of this forum, and most of all to have you all as my friends.
Ian

...........Nice piece Ian, ty and take care............
Ian,look forward to seeing you back!
Lynne will always be remembered.
Your message is very heart warming.
Sincere condolences from a Newbie, maybe we will cross on the tables ourselves.
Wont add my own platitudes, reading your own thank you letter shows me a lot about the character you have, Keep busy Sir, most of all, keep your own personal memories of her laughing and of the good times close, noone can take that away.
Dave
Cheers
Paul

take care.
David
very best wishes to you
and your family
Take care and I'll see you on the tables soon.
The Service was very fitting & respectful, to Lynne's and Your Courage in the Face of Adversity!!
It was a pleasure to meet Lynnes Mother, Sister, & close circle of family & friends, including many from your other Poker world, that Alan Elsadog seemed to Know too!!
I was very pleased to get there very early, after leaving at 6am, had nice brekkie at the Redbarn Farm Cafe, then was great to meet First Gordon Dollie [SPTLegend], then Alan Maxally[TKP Vice capt] & Alan Elsadog [Team51 Capt] so we had a good chat before, and a nice coffee after the service.
Also there was a gentleman Alan knew plays a bit on Sky, mainly elsewhere, think 'wizard....' & Name check for third Squaddie present BensBird11, Ben who hosted the after 'partywake' at his restaurant the Chilli Banana, where the Thai food was lovlee!!
On such a Sad day, it was nice to see so many colourful people celebrating Lynnes life, as she would have liked , and Ian asked us Too!!
The ELL Club, [Everybody Loves Lynne] certainly has many members, and I will be proud to wear that badge at Luton!!!
Many colours were worn, with both me & Maxally limiting oursevles to Dark suit & Pink shirt, but Frank 'The Iceman' Martin wore a colourful Poker Shirt from Vegas, that I would be proud to wear LOL, Indeed I had a Pint with that Gentleman afterwards, and am in NO Doubt that He Is As 'SANE' as ME!!!! LOL!!
Am glad it went smootly Ian, and hope you can look upon that send off as another Happy Memory to go with the many others mentioned at the Service!!
I am glad I made the time to get there, as it is a rare commodity for us all Nowadays, I know many others did try, with brave efforts & apologies from Eyeman, Trip5, Joesman & spornybol, many others sending with me their best wishes & regrets, too many to mention, But All Squaddies, SPT'ers & DTD'ers alike in sorrow!!
It was a pleasure to have met Lynne, and been in the company of you both so many times!!
x
Lovely post Ian, RIP, Lynne.
Strength/friends/family is your way forward... hope to clash again soon x
