A later £1.10 PLO8 tourney?

Looking at the tournament lobby, the last £1.10 PLO8 tournament is at 16:55. At the moment, these are the cheapest way for people to learn PLO8. However, I'd guess that most recreational players on here at work from 9-5, and obviously can't play the 16:55 one. Infact, all 3 of the £1.10 PLO8 tournaments run when most people are at work.

Therefore, is there any chance of a slightly later £1.10 PLO8 tournament being introduced, maybe with a small guarantee as well, to allow more people to give PLO8 a go relatively cheaply? The ones that currently run during the day usually get a decent amount of entries.

Obviously don't want it to stop people from playing the 8:25 £100 GTD tournament, so maybe starting somewhere between 6pm and 7pm.

Thoughts?

Two penguins in agreement here !

Obviously we have to appreciate that PLO8 only represents a tiny proportion of Skys traffic, but the whole hilo schedule definitely needs looking at.

The £11 ones at 19.55 and 21.55 never run. The  £5.50s at 19.25 and 21.25 are often only 2 or 3 players. People interested in playing at these levels have the option of STTs.

Surely it would be better to simply alternate £1.10 and £3.30 throughout the evening, fitting it round the £100 gtd at 20.25.

These are popular during the daytime, and frequently attract new players to the game.

I am concerned that the 20.25 has narrowly missed its guarantee the last couple of nights. I simply cannot promote it every single day, but if we dont use it we will lose it.

I wasn't even aware that there was a PLO tourney available for £1.10. An evening one is a great idea. I'm still learning the game so play the PLO freerolls at the weekend and the numbers are rising so there is interest. I believe that last weekend it reached over 600 runners which is amazing.

      A massive +1  to this.

As others i would like to see the growth of both PLO and PLO8 on the site. And i believe the best way forward is these low entry tournies which give the novices a great chance to learn for relatively little cost.

A nice one or two of these for times when people have got in from work would be just what is needed to improve the traffic.

      Lets hope this happens guys.

Bump :) What's happening with this?

Would be a shame if nothing happens, especially as the £11's never run anyway.

I have suggested the introduction of these tournaments in the evening for a while now.  This is the cheapest PLO8 buyin, but it is only available during the day.  The 14.55 attracts around 20+ players.

The cheapest DYM buyin for PLO8 is £2.25, which is prohibitive for players learning the game.  Smaller stake DYM buyins would help encourage more players to try the game.  I know personally, that any payers I have encouraged to give PLO8 a spin, find this a bit steep and go for the £1.10 tournament.  This brings us back to the problem that these do not run during the evening.

I agree with Penguin that the evening PLO8 schedule requires a re-think.  I know that PLO8 players are a minority on Sky, but we are trying to encourage more players.  Tony has done a great job promoting the game, and the numbers are slowly increasing.

So lower buyin DYMs and a couple of £1.10 tournaments in the evening would help to promote this marvelous game.

I'd really like to see some cheaper PLO8 mtt's in the evening.

If, as penguin7 says, the £11 don't even run then trying out lower buy ins has got to be worthwhile.

At least one £1.10 mtt in the evening would be good but what I'd really like to see is a £2.20 deep or double stack...pretty please.

Also think that some cheaper PLO8 stt's are needed to try and get new players hooked on this great game.

I'd love to play PLO8 of an evening but the games available at the moment are above my bankroll.  I support any plans for cheaper PLO8 evening mtt's.

Or even some No Limit Omaha?

Another shameless bump for this thread - Noticed on Tuesday's live show that Tikay mentioned something about changes being discussed in a meeting. Since Sky_Dave's post, there's not been any changes to the PLO8 schedule, or any more posts in here from anyone at Sky, so I'm wondering whether this has been discussed yet, and if so, are there any plans to add later £1.10 PLO8 tournaments?

Dagnamit and Flyingdagg's posts are two examples of why this would be a good thing for Sky to consider :)

I will send the thread upstairs again Evil. I did so previously, & I got no reply, so I assumed they had considrered the idea & decided not to proceed.

They juggle the schedules all the time, but it's difficult to get the balance "just so", & keep everyone happy. We get hundreds of varying suggestions to do different things, & all of them are considered, but it's unlikely they could ever grant every wish. They do try, though.

That would be highly unlikely, & if my opinion were canvassed, I would not recommend it.

The whole idea of Omaha is that it is Pot Limit - almost all Omaha is Pot Limit or Fixed Limit, & No Limit Omaha is rarely played anywhere, live or online, as the NL aspect takes all the skill out of an otherwise very beautiful game.

Some lads enjoy a little low cost NL Omaha, but only for fun, or as a "spin-up" vehicle, it's just out & out gambling really, there is no skill in it to speak of.

If you provide russian roulette SNG's and "chip and chair " mtts, which you do, then i can't see any reason not to provide the odd NLO mtt, or higher NLO cash tables, on that logic. PLO IS a beautiful game for sure, but for those who are not bothered about learning it properly, or perhaps incapable of understanding it fully, why not have NLO as an option for people that like a gamble?

fwiw, I much prefer the NLO dyms to the PLO dyms because they usually play quicker and they allow the loose players to exit earlier meaning i can fold to the win.

I understand that it is difficult to keep everyone happy, but there seems to be a consensus on this one from all PLO8 players, and from those that would like play in the evening.

The £11 tournaments get no runners.

There is a demand for £1.10 tournaments in the evening.

The £2.25 minimum stake for DYMs is prohibitive.

If these small improvements were implemented, I cannot imagine that you will find any dissenting voices.  On the contrary, there seems to be an overwhelming consensus in favour.

I can only reiterate what I already said, I'm sorry. I have now sent it upstairs again.

With the greatest respect, there is not an "overwhelming consencus" in favour!

ALL requests are considered, not all get accepted. I would imagine there is a reason in every case, too.

I will have a personal word, & see what they say, but it will be next week before I get the opportunity.
