Historic broadcast alert: the last EVER Saturday night live show! (***OFFICIAL THREAD***)

As I'm sure you know by now, big changes are ahoy at the Sky Poker TV Channel (if you don't know, please read THIS). And, tonight, we say goodbye to the four-hour Saturday-night combo of Top of the Pots and Master Cash.

Redmond Lee and I will be on your screens from 9pm. Both of us have been away from channel 865 for a while. Reds has been grinding the on-line cash tables, while I've been out in the Bahamas. Working. Incredibly hard. Honest.

So, what's the theme for this evening's opus?

CHALLENGING CONVENTIONAL WISDOM

Or, debunking myths and over-used cliches, be they poker-related or not. I'll get things started...

"You can't have your cake and eat it."
Why would I want to hold onto a piece of cake? What other practical purpose does cake serve, other than to satisfy one's appetite?

"You can't lose what you don't put in the middle."
This implies an aversion to gambling. Just get your chips in and hope for the best. Variance has to be SOMEONE'S friend. Oh...and you CAN lose what you don't put in the middle, as you'll probably pass a welcoming blackjack table or roulette wheel on your way out of the poker room.

Hopefully, you get the idea! Please e-mail your contributions to skyopen@bskyb.com or post away in this thread.

I'm a bit out of touch with all the TV updates but I assume the change is for the better... are we gonna be able to show Omaha hands soon in the new studio? Have a great show tonight anyway.

"There's too many fish at 4NL, I can't beat them so I'll play higher where they 'respect' my raises"

If you can't beat 4NL, you aint gonna beat 8NL, 10NL, 20NL or any other level.

Will there be a last ever Saturday show competition?

    Guess the new Presenter/Analyst
    Or
How many Countries has James visited since December?

Saturdays won't be the same again! Have a great show and thanks for all the TV Gold you've played a big part in!

But... The weaker players at NL4 have learned all about triple range merging, they crush everybody now :(

Also, this is going to be the last time I can order takeaway and watch Master Cash... A sad day indeed </3

I've always wondered why, when people think they have purchased a bargain they say
     'cheap at half the price'?

I always find myself thinking 'well it would be, wouldn't it?' ... but maybe that's the point?

Anyhow, if they feel the need to comment surely 'cheap at twice the price' conveys their sentiments more aptly?

Not happy as I love my Saturday night cash and will be very sad to see it go :(

On a positive note, the third amazing analyist in a row on Saturday.  From Ryan to Stuart to Redmond.  Looks like Sky have been saving the best until last, sorry Ryan and Stu.

The only myth I can think to debunk at the moment is that the crew in captian pugwash all had dirty names.  They didn't.  The closest one was Master Mates!

Have fun and see you on the tables

James, I think the dress code has been relaxed for the SPT weekend so you won't have to smuggle in your comfy canoe shoes if you're coming this year.

    Evening James, Redmond.

First a token Movie question to get James on-side:

James, I recently watched "Not Another Teen Movie" and there are many John Hughes references in it.  What, in your opinion, is the best John Hughes movie?

A few of questions for Redmond after his 5 hour heads up game last night:

What is your thought process when you go down a few buy-ins in quick succession?

Often I see HU opponents suddenly get very tilted by the smallest thing, do you get tilted or are you cut from the same stuff as tikay and Tilt-Proof?

How much does the rail-chat bother you?

Goodbye Mastercash, it's been nice watching you.
