Yup thats what happened to me on saturday, I finished 21st out of 311 runners and lost 12p, this was down to me losing a semi big pot early and running through the tournie short stacked.

It felt like 3 wasted hours, surely the payout structures should not allow this to happen.

Rather than looking at it as wasted hours, look at is as you had 3 hours of fun poker and it only cost you 12p to play!

My primary objective is to make money from poker, if I have fun on the way then thats a bonus with the volume I play !

Seriously though, the payout structure is insane, looking at the 1000 bh this afternoon, it pays 20 when there are not much more than 100 runners, between 10-20th get a few quid. It would be far better to give the top 10 a decent payday encouraging people to play for the prizes rather than bounties which should be a bonus.

What does this do, encourage people to shove wider than the channel tunnel. I accept thats all part of bounty hunters, but it takes donkage to a new plain.

Only half of your buy-in goes into the prize pool, you made a profit out of that. The other half goes in the bounty pool. It's swings and roundabouts, like Penguin7 said, there will be plenty of times where you finish outside the paid places but leave with head prizes. Look at any bounty hunter lobby and you'll see several player who leave the tournament in profit without even making the bubble.
