after another 2 impressive results its more than luck thats making julian thew run over the sky fields time and time again but do people think hes in same leage as the top british players at the moment, personaly i do...............................and u?
Absolutely yes! All three are amazing players and on a table together,, who could say which one would come out on top? It's all about the 'run good' on the day. Having said that, I would still be quite comfortable betting on Julian to win should this situation arise!
I think you've got to conclude that Julian has edged ahead of Tikay, on recent form, and is fast catching up with Richard Orford, in terms of both ability, and results......

For the record, Mr Orford actually WON a SPT side event. Thewy ONLY managed a dismal 2nd in his side event. Therefore I conclude that Richard is a better player than Julian*

Steady on Jakally, Thewie is good but let's be realistic.... has he EVER won an SPT side event. I REST MY CASE

being serious(for once)
i would have to say no.....sam trickett was the biggest earner of all brits last year (i think) some where in the region of 5m.
and jake cody has smahed the poker scene and is the youngest person to win the triple crown.
then again winning the most money and being the best player are not necessarily the same thing.
to get to trickett and cody's level means always being away at the next big tourny where as julian has a family and obviously wants to devote time to them.

Form is temporary, Neil, class is permanent.
The boy Thew is a decent kid, I give you that, but class? I think not. You seen those Jesus sandals he wears?
OK, he binked the SPT, but he got so lucky, exactly as he did in those three GUKPT's, the EPT, The Monte Carlo, etc.
Wait till he's taken down the Luton Monday night jobbie before comparing him to me, please. I'm different gravy.

He's won more money off me than the other 2 put together. So yea, obv. Posted by DOHHHHHHH
seconded.
lol
Although what i will say is Julian has been at the top of the British game for a while, always with the top names of British players. Cody and Trickett are both fairly new names to the scene and Julian obviously as mentioned devots alot of his time to his family. And rightly so imo.
However does that mean that Thewy isnt as good as these players, remember alot of his "big" results came when poker was just starting to get big in itself. World Series prizepools show this. So comparing on money and results imo is completely wrong.
There is one classic way to find out but it would involve a 4th player so the next big british name, although theres alot that could fill this gap. I think a player with similar experiance to Thew would be ideal, Neil Channing maybe? Where they would play a best of 10 KO HU tournament with their own money imo.

The problem with that is that it helps to show who is the best HU player (although it's not a great sample size), it does not show who is the better cash player, or the better MTT player, or the better Omaha player or the better overall player and so on and so on.
I think when you get to such a high standard, it's very hard to differentiate between them and as has been noted, Thewy has a family to enjoy and so doesn't play every single tourney under the sun.
It's like when people say Joe Satriani is better than Steve Vai (or vice versa), when you get to that level, either one of them could play anything the other one could.
the truth is that no, i'm no where near as good as those two guys.
back in the day, like 5 years ago i'd say i was one the top 100 tourney players on the european circuit but the truth is i no longer have that all-consuming appetite that is necessary to stay competitive in the biggest games.
a semi-normal family life now needs to be lived & i'm just grateful that i had the opportunity to devote all that time & effort to being super-competitive & that i managed to maximise my potential when it was my time.
nowadays i get by with experience & a little bit of homework,
can anyone tell me what a triple range merge is btw?

It's when Dohhhhhhh folds his pepperoni pizza around a piece of KFC before dipping it into black bean sauce and eating ;o))
Julien is a very good player but not in the same league as Jake and Sam no offense but the competition they face is tougher then what Julien faces on Sky poker
it's all dependent on opportunity imo, Julian is a really good player and is clearly consistent but he doesn't play on the same level at the two pro's mentioned, if he did then i'm sure he could produce similar results.. it's all relative
not even close, i havnt won a penny off the other 2 and i am £54.20 up against julian. such a donk!. seriously though , i think he can hold his own in ANY field.

Our (totally biased) view is that he is awesome, even better than Tikay.
Tikay will almost certainly post on this thread saying he's better so in advance of that - SIGH.

so in reality we may never know
