I just had a quick look at the structure of the new timed tournaments.
From what I can make out...
- If you bust out, you win nothing.
- At the end of the time limit, the prize pool is divided amongst the survivors in a way which is directly proportional to their respective chip stacks.
So, for example, suppose we play a £5 (+50p) tournament.
Everyone starts with 2000 chips, so throughout the tournament every 2000 chips is simply worth £5, or equivalently, every chip is worth ¼ pence.
So, aside from that fact that you can't top up or sit out, and that nobody can leave or arrive for the specified time, is this not essentially similar to playing cash? As long as you're not out, you're always in the money because each chip is worth ¼ pence at the end (in my example).
I understand how it would be different is only a fixed percentage of the field is paid, but it doesn't look like this is the case to me.

Interesting way of looking at them.
