this call is terrible and is a losing play long term.

he is raising 5x the bb and you are flat calling oop with 9high

don't know what kind of reaction your looking for

Yeah, this is a really bad call pre-flop and will cost you alot of money in the long-term. You will flop quads and other big hands very, very infrequently. Calling 5x raises, out of position is not recommended with any hand, under any circumstances.

With that said; I can understand your opponents frustration but I hope you told him where to go. You pay your buy-in and you can play however you like. Besides which, if he thinks he's better than you, he's stupid to discourage you from playing in future. Nothing wrong with being an inexperienced poker player, plenty wrong with being a... erm... not very nice chap.

    No shame in it :)

Correct. It's a dym we are preserving our equity, we do this mainly by folding our speculative hands and preserving chips. Let others bust out with 97s while you profit from folding

but then again i just wanted to see a flop..

OP got criticised by a player who he busted on a £2.25 DYM by calling 5x from the SB with 97s in the 15/30 level whilst having 1500 chips effective.

OP then asked if this criticism was justified.

no need to delete post m8 thats the point of them to post hands and get advice and improve.

Don't worry about looking like a fish. I can tell you that you're definitely not. Fish don't ask people for advice and fish don't try to improve their game. You've done both. Beginners and fish are not the same thing.
