Hi everyone hope you had a good week
I not to sure what antes are, i sore our heard on sky resently that they may be introducing antes to our games,i am bit worried that it will cost me out of playing, i am recreational player and have a budget that i don't mind loosing, although saying that i try not to, but i don't worry me if i do, where else can you enjoy a weeks entertainment for £20, no where i think,

So what are antes?
how do they work?
do they go up at each level in tourneys?
are they set at a level in cash games?
will they be in all games?
anything else you can tell me about them?
Thanks Glen

    Hi Glen,

Antes in Tourneys will not alter the Entry Cost of them at all.

They are a sort of extra Blind, which increases the amount of dead money in the middle every hand. They are usually introduced after the early Levels are out of the way.

In Live Poker, on a 10 handed Table, an ante is usually about one tenth of the big Blind, so with all 10 players paying it, it amounts to an extra big blind in the middle. Yes, they increase, but only, & always, in proportion to the Blinds. They are ceased when the Tourney gets Heads Up, though.

They would NOT be in all Tourneys, or even many of them - they only work in particular types of Tourneys, specifically deep-stacked slow clock affairs. They would be grossly unsuited to the more popular Tourneys on Sky Poker.

Antes are not top of the list of priorities at Sky Poker, either, there are other, far more importnt things to do before it gets to antes. They will come in due course, I expect, but the Site has done very well without them so far.

Enjoy your poker, & don't worry about them, not at all.
