Very UL kev! I railed the FT and it was good to watch & learn.
Probably not much consolation but you've had about 7or 8 hours poker "fun" for £1!!
Unlucky Kev thought you had it last night you played a good game and the luck was more with me this time.
Like you said there is always next week and what you learn from getting the chance to play with more well known and higher stake players cannot be found in a book and can only help your game.
This was the fourth time in the last 6 weeks I have got through to saturday, each week finishing higher, similar position to you last week but 5th and finally getting lucky last night so you can do it.
The tournament itself gives you the chance to play and learn against Sky's high stake players for just a £1 as like you £64 is way above my level so take heart from the way you played and go for it.
Survivor was a great idea but it's totally lost it's way in my opinion. Every Saturday these days 60%+ of the field are MTT sharks who buy-in for £64 and they probably take 80%+ of the prizemoney between them. This is very tough on the hardy players like yourself who've battled through all week to make the final. The name 'survivor' is a misnomer now, the format needs to be tweaked to restore the tournament to it's original values.
I'm not sure what the solution is, perhaps the buy-in prices need to be increased as the week goes on so that those who enter earlier get better value. If a 10% premium were added each day the buy-ins would be Sun £1, Mon £2.20, Tue £4.84, Wed £10.64, Thur £23.42, Fri £51.53 and Sat £113.37. Just a suggestion, though maybe this would kill the tournament. Something needs to change, the way it's going at the moment we're not far from the point where hardly anybody plays Survivor through the week and it's essentially a £64 Saturday freezeout.
When Survivor was launched the guarantee was £2.500, that's already dropped to £1,000 and most weeks there's overlay. The tournament has never been raked and must have cost Sky a lot of money.
cheers for that Gary, I was thinking it should change its name to the £1000 garanteed rags to riches torny as the word Survivor is lost a liitle in the aspect of it all, lol....
