took a 2nd trip to the local(ish) casino while im here in Canda last night. Cash game $1/$2 out of my bankroll but this was a recreational game that i have been saving up for so had 1 full buyin $200. Been playing about an hour on a 10player table just over $100 to the good atm the table is made up of roughly 50% good players 50% know nothing beyond the rules of poker.
I pick up 88 UTG i want to set mine ut know a raise is going to get called by atleast 5 player so opt to limp (with which i will get to see the flop maybe 3/4) as it is small stack next to me calls utg +2 raises to $10 folded to the button who calls BB calls i call Utg +1 shortstack shoves for $29 called by all playes round to me. Heres my dilema the pot is now around $120 in my head this is now a shove or fold situation for me. A shove if it gets through lets me play a $150 pot aginst for $29 porbably flipping against 2 overs from the shorty. Utg+2 has about another $50 behind (orginal raiser) the 2 other stacks have me covered. IF i shove and get called by a big stack im probably flipping for my whole stack. In the end i folded and the board came out 33j32 and i would have taken the pot down. Is it being results orintated to think i should have shoved? Was playing reasonably scared money as i was already over $100 up which would be a good night for me. What would the correct play be preflop here i presume a call is just rediculous in this spot.

not that im saying shove is optimal but more times than not you will be flipping or ahead with a lot of added mooney in pot and a bit of advertising that u will shove it in light never hurt for future plays
your also gonna push out some better hands 99 1010 maybe jj and qq even(live nits lol) also some decnt aces like aq aj a10 all gonna struggle to call (im talking about the big stacks here)
